transmission noise!!

Ok but you might want to take it off just so its out of your way for changing the out put drive. Your call I am not near mine right now to see if it is. When I did mine I also had heavier cables made at the local parts store just in case. I have been pretty busy but plan on reassembling a transmission into half of the engine case so I can take pictures or film the gear selector and which gear combination is used for each gear. This could help people decide where there problem could be if they know the proper gear operation. At least it can help me learn how to better explain things :)

Patrick you Rock. You told me that motorcycle lift table was going to come in handy. Don't use that assembly grease for the splines. Go to a Honda dealer and buy the Honda Moly 60 grease. Us that on the all the drive shaft and wheel splines.

Bill.

Not quite sure if I am right but from your picture it looks like its a assembly lube. Assembly lube is for the inside of the engine which dissolves and goes away once hot oil is circulating. It just there so thing have lubrication until the oil is there plus it is designed so it does not plug oil filters. Besides Harley's break down which means it does not really matter if the lubricant is good because you will be pushing the skurwa anyway :D

geee!! cannot even trust the guy at the dealership who swore by it, anyway was only $15 . got the message loud and clear honda moly 60 it is no problemo

Patrick,

When most of us pull the final drive out and separate the splines for the first time we see a rusty looking powder and think it is rust and we are glad we took it apart to clean and service it. Its like holy crap ... look how rusty this is. OMG. Actually that rusty powder is the molybdenum. It is a dry powder that lasts a long time. To re-lube it just ad the Honda moly paste. Do it every time the wheel comes off. And remember to grease the splines on the other end going into the output drive on the back of the engine. You can only get to that when the sawing arm is off so take advantage of it now.

Hey Amigo.
You are doing us proud - diving into that intimidating can o' worms like you are!
BTW - it is "problema" as all bad words are feminine gender in Mexico.
