Boy no one likes to wreck and I would not wish it on anyone but I would definitely like to not remember mine

Sounds to me like you out put drive locked up. The only mine locked up was when exploded the internal clutch hub bending the input shaft to the transmission If your not going to work on the 05 until winter I can probably have the 05 engine in my other frame out and some of them parts might be what you need and of course you can have them. The only other way I can see a transmission locking up is if you bent a shift fork and it was in two gears at once. Not likely if you were just riding down the road when it happened. Easy way to tell is pull the sump pan and look in the back left off it for roller bearing material. if its there its the output drive for sure. the one in my 05 is good but has the old style bearings in it. You get new ones in the update kit though plus the second gear updates also. for a couple hundred bucks its worth it.
