just to add a little to what has been said. u can not confuse the electronics.
by working the throttle a lot u may eventually wear out the tps however a tps is $130 and a transmission is $2000 plus. so i would say wear out the tps.

The BEST way to wear something out... is to use it... A LOT! One day I'd like to hear... "You put how many miles on your Rocket???!!!!" Heh! Afghanistan vacations and moving around sure has put a damper on my mileage... but I'm working on it... ;-)

It's about matching the engine speed with the speed of the gearbox output shaft. Drive a truck with a RoadRanger box, you only use the clutch to start moving and to stop. If you don't use the accelerator right it will get messy and chances are you'll end up nearly stopped and have to start again.

I do use the clutch when changing gears on a Eaton Fuller Roadranger gearbox ,but just enough to allow the stick to move the into neutral ,more of a way of timing the change ,I am always aware how far the clutch pedal is pushed in halfway is full disengagement and full in operates the clutch brake a disaster if you are moving,
modern Japanese sports bikes gearboxes are so smooth to change up or down and with a slipper clutch its only habit that makes me "blip" on down changes

It lays it out pretty well in this article, I was taught to blip, and ya the instructor that said not to need his education advanced.

Nice article but this is not blipping the throttle. It is raising the rpm of the engine to match what it would be spinning if it were in the lower gear. This make controlling the bike much easier. But if you read the article it srates nothing about making the transmission shift better.

I have observed on many occasions that Harley riders have to blip there throttles prior to backing up. Same when sitting at a stop light. Never really understood why. I kind of enjoy the Rocket and find no reason to blip. Luckily the bike shifts great. Better now then when new. It did take a little time to learn the proper tension on the clutch cable.
