rocket 3 classic 2006
hey guys i am quite new to the forum, and what a place it is. i recently bought a 2006 classic, black engine no 269453, with only 5000 miles on it, now 7500. it is without doubt one of the best bikes i have owned. however, i cannot ignore some of the problems you guys have had, gearbox, detent springs etc. is there anything i should pay particular attention to. this bike is a keeper.

I bought my 2006 last year with 87000 km. Love it. I have no idea what the previous owners have had to deal with, I’m hoping all the niggles have been sorted. Starts easy, rides like a dream. And it’s old enough to make any mods I want without having to be to precious about warranties and the like.
Just enjoy it...if not already done, open her lungs so she can take big breaths and you’ll have a beast when you want to crank it up a little.

Why worry about stuff that could break? I believe anything can break but paranoia ruins the ride even if it does not. Wind that beast out.;)

I was worried when i first got my rocket every little noise is it suppose to sound like? why is it doing this? should it do that? I found best thing to do was learn as much about the bike as you can and this is the place to do that. And if the bike is a keeper You will then enjoy the pleasure of owning one even more guaranteed:thumbsup:

I had an issue with the second gear but it is what it is.

Didn't stop me enjoying the beast before it went bad or once fixed and wasnt to worried because this is my last bike I ever buy.

Did do a 280 mile ride on Saturday and bike ran great. Only thing is I have to adjust bars a bit lower and towards me as found it I having to reach a little bit.
