Rocket Won't Start

I would start checking at the relays.
There should be three relays: the one in front is fuel relay and the one in the middle is engine management.
when u turn on ign u should be able to tell the relay click if u don't i would take the third relay(the one in the rear cooling fan) and exchange it for #1. then recheck for fuel and if u can feel it then listen for sound in tank.
also if u have an alarm that might be a problem now i do not have an alarm but i had a rat chew off the plug that goes in there to loop the wires so mine did not start. now i could see a rats nest on top of the valve cover.
if u have a volt meter u can ground the neg probe and touch the pos probe to all the fuses and check them. keep us posted.

I'd say first, you gotta see if the pump is getting voltage. You could either start at the pump and work back, or the fuse block, and work towards the pump. A wiring diagram, a volt meter, and some reading/studying required. In any event, the pump, filter etc. are all inside the tank, and the gas line that Triumph uses does not hold up very well. You can get to the wires powering the fuel pump by lifting the tank and putting it up on it's stick. Connector has 4 wires. 2 go to the fuel sending unit, and 2 to the fuel pump. Can't remember the color codes at the moment, but that's where a wiring diagram comes in.:)

Those four wires to the fuel pump - the connections look good - can anyone tell me which two send power to the pump? I have the manual, but I'm afraid I'm unskilled in electronic ignition stuff. Manual says 1 PW (Purple White?) 2 B(lack) 3 B(lack) 4 BG (black green?)

are 1,2 on top? 3,4 on bottom?

Thank you!

Those three relays behind the left side cover. Front two are hanging, as the rubber device that's designed to hold them vertical have let go. Thank you, I'll do just as you recommend with the relays. No alarm system installed.

Now it's just a "why ain't she getting fuel?" problem. :)

i am going to assume that with them hanging down that they have gotten water in them. now they do not work very well with water in them or they r rusted so the relays r most likely the problem. i carry a spare starter relay that should work to replace the two relays. its been a while but i think that it was only $10. from triumph also i used plastic ties to hold mine in position. like temporary use the fan relay to check.
i can guarantee u if the fuel pump relay doesn't click the fuel pump won't work
i think that the #1 pink and white is the power going into the fuel pump would be pos and then the 2 & 3 r the grounds for pump and sending unit.

:) :) :) AND WE HAVE A WINNER!

Fuel pump relay bad, started right up with the swap. Happy camper, and a look see round here to see if this relay cannot be found in a local NAPA or will need shipped in. Does anyone know of a cross reference for a non-triumph relay?

Thank you!

Don't buy a relay from napa, relay need to have a resistor or diode in it to bleed off or stop a surge going towards the Ecu. Look at the diagram on the relay you will see what I am talking about. Make sure the new one is identical.

I could not find one anywhere but triumph!

I was just wondering if that exact Hella relay was used in anything else - and I couldn't find anything out - it did not cross reference to any on file. Got one ordered from the nearest Triumph dealer, and a spare is on order. Should arrive tomorrow in the mail.
