Rocket 3 differences and tune ability

Hi Doug
what is wrong with the 2010?
Cheers
Nothing necessarily, it's just the first year they came out. If there were any bugs, they would have fixed them in later years. I don't know of any bugs or if anything in the mechanics other than ABS was actually new in the original Roadster model. The opinions of other Roadster owners would be helpful.

PS. I wanted a new Roadster just because of the ABS but I couldn't deal with the 5" rearward pegs. The dealer wouldn't sell me one with the original forward foot controls. Triumph scared them off this because it required moving the master brake cylinder, which Triumph didn't want to warranty.

I'm a Brit so not used to the forward peg positions!
Even the Roadster's look too far forward to me lol

Hey stu and welcome from a very wet Dartmoor ! I would go for the Roadster .
As for the questions ? I would be SOPHOMORIC in trying to answer questions I knew little about . But , rest assured the big boys with the knowledge will be along very shortly .
I apologise for the sophomoric quote , I bin so impressed by the word that I just had to find a sentence in which to use it !
Good luck with the quest and I am sure you will be more than happy whichever model you choose .

FRESHMORIC tis even a better word!

I have to ask the question of this post...Since the engine is the same and the only difference I can see is the ECU and exhaust. Why can't the touring be made equal to the roadster by simply retuning. I'm running a stock R3T with the Power Tripp tune and although it is an improvement it certainly is not equal to the roadster without a lot more mods. Even then, I'm not sure it would be equal to the roadster in HP and Torque.

Good questions - to which I have never seen a definitive answer!
There must be some diff inside the engines . . . ?

I came from many years of sports bike riding and don't find the Roadster pegs an issue. To me it would be totally alien to have my feet foward but hey, each to their own and all that.

There's no difference. It's just a matter of tuning. I thought there might be something new on the Roadster since they did some upgrades on the original model. Gear ratios, compression, etc., are the same. I met a guy with a touring at the Triumph shop who had it dyno tuned with a pciii - over 150 hp, don't remember exactly what.

I agree with you. I have a 2013 Roadster and bought new peg rails with the intent of modifying them and getting the pegs further back but haven't done it yet. The anti skid rear brake master cylinder can't be moved any further back without major modifying and I just haven't had the time. Everybody's ergonomics are different, but it seems to me that the further forward you have the pegs, the more strain you are putting on your lower back, and it's precisely those people that then install seat backrests?o_O:unsure:.
