R3 rear shocks - last question.. maybe..

No problem Dew it is then. I don't drink much only when there is mason jars around. But I surely do not drive then. Learned that lesson and payed $$$$$ for it also :)

Oh I wasnt disagreeing with you ..... I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something. I had already placed my order and still had time to cancel or change it. Gosh man.... I couldn't afford to pay anymore than what I paid for the 444s tell you the truth. There's no shame in my game.

I'm switching back over to the motorcycle tire soon. I really believe I will have it mounted come RRA this time. I had a BMW M3 (car) get on my ass in the twisties the other day up in the mountains. I couldn't shake him so I moved over and let him proceed in front of me. After that I couldn't stay with him! He left me sitting.... way up around the next curve he went. I said "I'm on a motorcycle and a car is faster than I am around these curvy mountain roads?" Anyways I was amazed. So I decided that I was going to put a MC tire back on ..... now I went ahead and ordered better shocks. Maybe I will handle a little bit better..... doubt I would out run that BMW however. I've got the stock shocks set on "3". I was wondering if that was to stiff for racing a BMW or should it been on "5"......... lol

I got a Metz for the rear..... I've had it for sometime just never have got around to putting it on.

I am a recovering alcoholic but I will take you up on a MT Dew if you got one! :D

Hey Mully.
Nice thread you and Warpo have going here.
I did some research and that M3 is bad ass in the corners, so don't feel bad at all. According to published track data that sucker can develop 1.3g in a corner! The GT model, 1.7g! I highly doubt anybody riding a Triumph Rocket can do this and remain upright. My guess would be like .8g on a good surface with racing tires. Metz tires? - better than a CT but not even close. ;-}

Thanks for the info.

Yeah I told the bosses son ( he knows about those type of cars) about my altercation with the M3 and he told me the same thing you just said. I wish everyone here could have seen what I saw.... it was unreal. If I ever get out of motorcycles or get to old for motorcycle I will look around for a M3.

In My playground Clyde Mtn I have been blown away a couple of BMW and other Hi performance cars and that was with me useing All the tyre on a Sports bike (and at times scaring myself).
As for the Metz being better suited than a good car tyre, All I can say is Hahahaha you have got to be kidding yourself, I am running the same spec tyres that these Hi performance cars are running (they would not be able to hold the road with mid performance tyres) and I only get 22,000km (fedral 595) unlike others that get 30,000 or more, I push fairly hard and I repeatedly had the metz slipping because it was running of the edge where a Hi performance car tyre at the correct pressure has not let me down and not even given a hint of slipping
I run the same sort of top dollar Hi Performance tyres on my Ford XLS Falcon ute and I garantee you you would not get a Rocket with bridgestone / metz or avon stay with me on the Mtn.
The day of cars not being able to take corners as fast as bikes is long gone

HansO, my Maaaaate!
I shall not argue these rather BOLD statements.
I wish I were rich as it sure would be great fun to fly you and your car tire over here for a crack at some pretty awesome twisties.

I would like to know what's up with the Metz rear tires on Rockets.
Any other brands of motor have this same issue with them?

I don't fill like arguing about the tire situation this morning. What I'm fixing to do is go back to the motorcycle tire and see which tire I like better. I will find out for myself which tire works best for me ..... not based on someone else's opinion.

Don't get all touchy about this, Mully.
That was merely me poking some fun at HansO.
I was NOT trying to convince you of anything!
I completely respect your right to do as you please.

Yeah I know that..... I've tried the darkside so it's time to go back to the motorcycle tire. What has happened is I have forgotten what it's like to ride with a motorcycle tire. Once I wear this mc tire out I will make up my mind what I need to stick with. What I did was when I first installed the darkside tire I hated it! I believe it was about 2 days after I installed the DS tire I ordered a new Metz (the same tire that is fixing to on). It was hard for me to turn the bike at slow speeds and I felt like I was fighting the motorcycle everytime I rode it. It still feels like that but has gotten better because the edges of the DS tire have become rounded. "IF" I ever put a DS tire back on I will grind the edges down before it goes on the motorcycle so I will bypass all the pulling and pushing of the bike like it was when the DS tire was new.
Another thing is for some reason the DS tire looses air pressure very quickly. In 3 or 4 days I have to add 10psi before I can take the bike on a ride. THAT has became a pain in the ass! I know I'm lazy but I don't believe I should have to add air to a tire quit that often. I always check the front as well and it never looses air.
My DynaBeads came today.... front tire will be here tomorrow..... Saturday I'm going riding with rainman, stb, joseywales..... so I won't be able to do much until the following week. Oh,, and my new shocks will be here Sat as well.

You don't need a motorcycle tire. No, not even a car tire. What you need is a truck tire.

Bridgestone Corporation 59/80R63 VES radial - 13' 2.5" tall, 4' 10" wide, and weighing 5.1 tons - as the world's largest tire. Designed for 380-400-ton haul trucks, the tire has a load rating of 101 tons.

nah not big enought:D
Sorry I got on my soapbox Mully.

you won't know yourself new tyres new shocks!

just out of curiosity what brand and size DS are you currently runing I went to great lenght to find a CT that was fairly rounded on its shoulders and of a soft compound as I was not worried about get massive miles, I just wanted one that would stick like S**t to a blanket and while there is slight extra counter steer I was amazed at similar it felt to another rocket when I rode it except at low (crawl) speed and as I have already mentioned elsewhere I will give a Bridgey a go (when I wear this DS out) but it had better impress me or I will be straight back on to a DS and then look out Nah Sayers :D
