Powdercoated Black Bearclaw

No secret mate - I would love mine to be black - or even a decent (ie deeper and darker)maroon than the dirty plum colour Triumph used. In some light mine looks great but other times it's, I'm very sad to say, a bit dull. I admit it; I have "black envy". Given the cost of a full respray I need to look at more progressive blackening and will be powder coating bits over time - just the spray can was a quick and effective temp job.
Bloke called Budda at Springwood will do a full single colour respray for $500. Tank, guards and sidecovers. Thunderbird Sport i took for a demo ride yesterday had one of his paintjobs. Candy Apple red not really my colour but was a really neat paintjob non the less.

Funny .. yesterday i was talking to one of the members up from Sydney at Life&Deaths tattoo show , he has a claret red rocket . 12 months ago he was going to have it painted black and i talked him out of it, told him nearly every rocket you see is black and that i reckon the red paint/black motor looks neat.Anyway since then he has had his bike repainted but the painter couldn't quite match the red. Mate told him to just go ahead and do the best he could... bike came back just about PINK !!!

Thanks TC. As I said, sometimes I like it. Amanda just got her first bike - a Virago (the America will have to wait a little while) and it's a really nice dark maroon. If the Rocket was that colour I'd be very happy. I'll go the black bits route first and see how it takes shape. Even at $500 it's hard to justify a respray - and so many people prefer the claret anyway. Have thought about just picking up black side tins on e-bay a few times. Maybe do that as part of the black bits......

Got any pics of yours yet?

I was only joking Richard  i think that colour is nice
i didnt really think for one minute you wanted a black one mate i just like **** stirring:D

I know that. ;) Main reason I'm not rushing to change it is that it's so much faster the way it is. :p I do like the look of mikemartin's black bear claw against claret so that'll be done (as soon as I cut the bloody thing......).

Was good to see you too mate, Keith Cole the photographer for Ozbike nailed me for a couple of photos next to my bike yesterday ( Donny knows him and conned him into it ) I nearly put it on all the Rocket owners there to line their bikes up so Keith could have got a few shots...f#ckin regret not doing it now, would have been a top photo.

yeah definately would have been a good shot
ill have to get a copy of that and see the pics that are in it i guess they will be in october issue
