Poor Gas Mileage...?

How much gas mileage you get is an unanswerable question you have far to many variables to consider, altitude, wind, road condition, weight of rider, gear on the bike, type of gas, speed of bike, tyre pressure, accessories on the bike, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.
True you can get a rough average but that is the best you will get.

I get around 28mpg out of mine which, considering the size of the engine, the style of bike, mods I've mades and the way I ride it, is totally acceptable. I'd be happy if it did better and not too concerned if it did worse. I'm actually pleased to be using a bit more fuel these days as I was concerned for a while that I was running too lean. If mileage was in any way a key objective, the last bike I'd buy would be the largest production bike on the planet. Same with tyre wear if the truth be known. It's not a question of wealth; it's just what it costs.

I'm pretty sure I could do much better round town by puttering off from the lights and always using 5th everywhere I went and only speeding up gradually. And maybe up to around 40mpg on the highway if I kept my speed to around 50mph - but it would defeat the purpose of owning a Rocket, don't you think?

as nolton stated a lot of it has to do where u buy the gas at when i had my 06 classic i would get between 35-38 mpg and the same on my 08 r3t with a c/t on it and i normaly cruise betwwen 70-90 mph when im by myself
the only reason
scot in exile gets 100miles per tank is going 200 mph or he only fills it halfway:D:D:D

On my '06 Standard w/ Corbin Fleetliner fairing I'm getting around 32 city and 39 hwy. That's w/ 3xK&N's, no secondaries, and Staintune pipes. I also run darkside and weigh in at 310 lbs.

At some medium altitudes in West Virginia, I once got as high as 43 mpg.

I ride a stock 08 touring with CT and get close to 40mpg below 70mph....I just made a trip to Daytona and cruise 80plus, mileage dropped to 32mpg.

Called my friend who has a 07 classic this guy writes down at each fillup the odo reading, gallons put in everything needed to keep an accurate count, anyhoo he gets on average 39mpg and when he is riding he is no slow coach.

If you have not had the valves checked and any are off then the engine vacuum is off cruising uses the maps sensor mostly and the vacuum is off the map is not pulling the right L table information. Let them do the service have him chack the throttle bodies balance and for any vacuum leaks check the tps as it will aslo point the ecu to the Wrong F, L, and timing tables the new plugs, air filter and service just might be what the doctor ordered after you know everything is right then you can test and judge better what needs to be done.

I'm doing right there about 30mpg ... sometimes less, sometimes more. I consider anything over 30 a bonus.
