Try manipulating the ear pads inside, they move to accommodate intercom systems, but because of their size they really change how quiet/loud it is.
Just a point I have a head that is quite long from my face to the back of my head and very narrow from left to right, a very long oval. The nexx fits me like a glove, perhaps it feels comfortable for more round heads but still is "off" enough to let lots of wind noise in.
Could also be that you are accustomed to very quiet helmets so the nexx is loud to you and other were used to loud helmets so the nexx seemed quiet, duno. Hope you find a way to make it work, hey are sexy looking and very light.
