Seems like someone out there put ISO Grips on their Rocket. They warn about end weights not working with some models. Who's done this and which part # did you use. I had ISO's on my last bike and there's no comparison on comfort.
Thanks!

Ron, I put them on mine. It is a bit of work. Unless you don't care about returning the bike to stck, Have your dealer order you a replacemnt Throttle sleeve. The stock grip is attached to the throttle sleeve by a bunch of little "nubbies". This is where the replacement sleeve comes in.

Get a belt sander and run the throttle sleeve on it until all the "nubbies are gone. You can then mount the ISO grip to the sleeve.

to mount your new sleeve you'll have to remove the 2 screws that hold the housing together on the handlebar. loosen up the adjuster nut on the throttle cables as much as possible. Remove the cables from the stock sleeve, put your newly modified sleeve with ISO grip in it's place and Voila.

The Bar weights do not work with the ISO grips but I have noticed very little difference without the weights. I like the fatter feel of the ISO's. If this doesn't make sense, PM me.

Kuryakyn Iso grips and end weights

Hondadirectline.com sells Bullet shaped grip ends that fit the ISO grips. They are almost as heavy as the stock bar ends. They are made by Lamont who makes a couple of aftermarket parts for the Valkyrie. I had them on my Valk and they looked great. Look under Valkyrie parts then grips and you will see what they look like. I think they would fit the R3s personality perfectly..

iso grips problem..

got some iso grips for 1" bars. I put them on and everything fits ok except the throttle is tight. something needs to be altered but not sure what.. i bought the ones with the sleeve in it so the prior instructions wont work... about filing the sleeve and sliding it on.. anyone have any advise..

grips work now

I filed down where the housing clamps down on the grip and now it moves freely. easier than taking the nubs off the stock sleeve.

Do a search on Kuryakyn, they have a set of ISO's that will fit without modifying your old grips, same as a Honda Sabre, I just installed them with no problem but then again I have Valkyrie bars...

That particular set does not slip over the trumpet sleeve. It has it's own which the throttle cables fit well. Only minor thing is that there's a wee bit of side to side play, maybe an 1/8" on the throttle side. It's working well...
