I've never had my bike on a dyno so I don't have any numbers to back up my belief that it runs better with triples. But it does. Triples have other advantages too, which to my mind justify their installation on their own. By far the best non-performance reason for fitting them is that you get rid of all that plumbing sitting on top of the engine. I can lift the tank and see all, without needing to remove the bear claw. Changing spark plugs is easier and I recently changed the rocker cover gasket (thanks again Hanso) with a lot less fuss than it would have been with all that hamster run in place. Then there's a storage under the seat you now have. My overflow bottle sits in there along with a puncture repair kit, couple of tools, a rag or too, my driving light relay and Dobeck TFI.
Some people don't like the noise but I quite like to hear a sucking sound between my legs.
I have TORs and like the performance from them but wouldn't say they rumble. They're not too loud though, if you're light on the throttle where you need to be. Jardines are quite a bit louder but with right tune can apparently give you more power.
