just got back from the auction.Bike went for $4k ausd.Owner must have been doing a big trip,coz he had a petrol tank [fully plumbed,solenoids ect...] sitting on the rear luggage rack.

Was it a foreign bike ? Damaged ? Man thats good buying even to parts it out it's a money maker.

pretty sure it was an aussie rocket.Dont recall the rego[ if it even had one] but cosmetic damage only, 1 fork,front guard,indicators,screen,engine bars all kaput...everything else was ok...wheels/engine ect...even the frame. i thought it was a very reasonable price.looking @ the damage, i would think the rider walked away after the prang.

Man it's hard to tell about frame damage on crashed Rockets. The one me and the mate looked at in Darwin had highsided and slid. Damage was as you would expect for a bike that had been down the road. We were warned off bidding on it as the steering head/ neck was tweaked. Buggered if i could see it but true enough the new owner was asking around for a good frame straightener within a month or so... Bike you checked out still be good buying by the sound of it mate.

i hear ya Tom,its hard to tell but this bike had more 'slide' type damage than all out impact damage.Sorta looks like the bikes gone down the road rather than into some thing solid. If i was riding it at the time this occured,i reckon i would be ok.Pissed off maybe, but ok all the same.I mean,the spare fuel tank [steel] didnt have a scratch on it and was inside a cover[ i thought it was an engle fridge @ 1st] mounted behind rider,and 2 or 3 water containers were still sitting [attached] on the passenger foot boards.Obvious signs the owner was doing some serious touring when he/she came to grief. Someone got a good buy here.

I just could'nt get there was at work, have a few options in the pipeline.
Trouble is transport company went broke, only just got bike moving from Adelaide to Perth. Taken nearly three months to do, should arrive next week (heard that before) 11/6/12 fingers crossed.
