I want a Custom Exhaust for my Rocket

From what I've learnt about the black arts of motorcycle headers. The flanges , stepped pipe diameter and merge/burns collector are the really important bits. Getting the hot gasses away from the head (and riders leg) are a bit of an art it seems.

I got this email today...

Thank you for your request. We have built some Rocket headers in the past that were a little different from the attached image. We could build one like that with some input from you. They would come in at about $900.00. They would be considerably less if the quantity was there. Let me know if we can answer any other questions. I just sold my Rocket III about two weeks ago.

Which design are we talking here? Just to refresh my memory...

I'm at a bike rally using my iPad.....which means I am even more technically challenged than normal so I can't upload a pic, but the pic I sent to the fabricator was one that Tomcat sent me of a set of "Perfect Storm" style headers. Look up Ozrider and see if he has pics in his gallery. I am probably going to get a set either way, but if we can get a few guys together for a group buy we would all save a few pennies. I told the guy that I wanted 1 3/4" x 29" runners. Anybody else got design criteria?

I believe this is it

That is beautiful, who is the maker?
Sam or Travelguy, from what I read and hear he isn't interested in making anymore so we have to get over that and find someone else. Sounds like R3tex is on to someone for the Rocket owners that ride on the wrong side of the road. A couple of Aussie's are working on different plans.

Yep, I want a set similar to the Perfect Storms. For me they need to incorporate the O2 sensor bung and connect up to standard pipes.

I believe there are 2 types of system needed.

1. A free flowing header that hooks up to stock pipes - which also means TORS, Staintunes and all the other pipes that many of us already have, andmaybe want to keep

2. a full system with 3 into 1 or whatever configuration is desired.

I'm very keen on the first option. I have a set of Dennis Foran pipes that connect to the stock header just rear of the O2 sensor and I'd like to keep them. Something like this is what I'm after - and is the design that TC had been investigating. This set is on Gothlander's bike and were made by Sam (travelguy) who sadly has said he won't make any more. He also made the headers that Hanso and Evil Mitch have. I have no idea how that compare to Reband or Carpenter performance wise, but I do know they'd be well and truly good enough and besides, it's the look I want. If these can be made and be able to connect to my Foran pipes for around a grand I'd snap them up.

Been swapping emails with a guy in North Dakota that is a fellow captain...well he was...he just sold his Rocket so he is familiar with the bike. Steel's stock header is going up there so the guy can get some measurements to confirm, but he thinks he can do a one off set in stainless for around $1000 US. I sent him pics of the Perfect Storm pipes as a go by. He also said that with a group buy we could probably knock a few bucks off each set as it would spread the set up cost out a bit. BTW, the outfit is stainless headers manufacturing company in Fargo...anybody ever done business with them?
