Head Gasket Blown?

Thanks for this. It came out of the top but didn't crack.

I'm gonna wait to get the bike back next couple of days, take it for a long run and see what happens...

Seems to me that if there was no water in your oil then it could well be due to the fan, especially if you were in stop/start traffic and riding slowly in hot weather. Having said that, '09s (and 08s I think) did have a known issue with the head gasket. Mine blew at about 40,000km and it was fixed under warranty.

edit: the main indication of my head gasket failing was oil down the back of the engine, by the way, not water in the oil or overheating. Not sure that helps you though.

I dont know for sure but if this happened under warrenty and is documented it should still be covered even after warrenty expires. Might depend on the shop.
make sure your dealer documents it
Thanks again for the replies. By header tank I don't mean the radiator itself, I mean the plastic tank next to the fuel tank?
check the overflow drain tube that come out of the bottom of bike is not blocked,
Get yourself a TuneECU Cable and download the TuneECU software, even if you never want to muck about with tunes it has great testing functions to check that the fan and other things are working correctly with out having to even start the bike

A blown head gasket is major damage. Let's hope you don't have one. The pressure test suggests you don't. I had a leak from the overflow under the bike which was cause by a bad radiator cap. If the fan was broken and didn't come on, you should have gotten a temp. warning or check engine light, no?

Goth is right I have seen some dealers not even fill the differential on a new bike and wonder why it does not make it very far. My bet is the most skilled mechanic was not the monkey who set the bike up out of the crate.

There is a bleeder screw/bolt next to the thermostat housing on the head.
:)
Failure to bleed system may cause reflux, the air trapped will expand and displace fluid.

Never bled mine but i now know why i had a little green puddle after i topped it up occasionly thanks goth for the info:cool:i

since it is a 09 and has the new style head gasket my bet is it had trapped air as Goth stated. I have only been able to pop the gasket a couple time with High Boost from the supercharger once with stock compression and the other time with 11.8:1 compression and high boost in which I stretched the head bolts but this will not be a stockers problem.

Ahh, stretching head bolts. Reminds me of my hardley!:D
Ya but Mine did not stretch from the rods letting loose :D

In fact you would not notice it until you go above 10 psi with the high comp pistons. It then pressurizes the water jacket and blows out the overflow. Still runs like a raped ape and if you do not go over 5 psi it does not lose water. I have new custom head bolts for her.
