GPS - What to use?

I have not lost the signal yet, It will recieve a signal in my house also. I have rode in some pretty crappy weather. I am very happy with it.

I recently came close to getting a Tom Tom myself, but my familiarity with Garmin and wanting to link with my Sena SMH10 I opted for a Zumo 660.
AND . . . I actually did link directly to my Sena SMH10!!!

I like the peace of mind that comes from having a shock-insulating case on longer trips. If you drop a phone without one it can just shatter, and that would suck when you're far from home. So more reasons than one to get a nice form-fitting protective case.

I especially like the with winding roads feature, it gets you where you wanna go but avoids boring roads when possible.

Yep, that's a nice feature. Last year I swear I practically rode through some people's front yard by following my iPhone Tomtom when I asked for winding roads. It will add a lot of time to any route, potentially, though. But I'd rather ride a few hours extra through fun, interesting roads than sit on a straight, flat highway and be bored.

You can adjust the Rider to use secondary main roads, that way it keeps you off the dirt roads and pastures. This is a very nice option, here in North Central Alabama we have about as many Dirt, Gravel roads as we do paved ones.

Yep, the Tomtom app for the iPhone is pretty full featured, it's basically a complete GPS in app form. You can choose whether or not you want to avoid toll roads, ferries or unpaved roads, and the winding roads feature offers minimum, medium and maximum windey-ness. I usually keep the gravel setting on "ask", there are some times when I have to use those, but rarely. But it's nice to be warned in case a route includes those so you can re-plan.

The screen isn't as rider friendly (no gloves, for instance) and it's a bit more fiddly than a bespoke hardware motorcycle GPS, but on the other hand the maps and the app itself gets updated regularly for free. Having up to date maps is nice, roads change a lot.
