Got an e-mail from Amazon a little earlier my NUVI 1690 has been shipped should have it sometime this week, got it shipping taxes and all $133 new unit I will be able to download all of the latest trips :D

new GPS

Good choice Jesse,
Get yourself set up and registered with the H.D ride planner and play with it for a while to see how it works.
You will be asked to download a free software program called "Garmin communication plugin"
Garmin | Communicator Plugin

, make sure you have that in your computer before you start downloading maps to your GPS
Make up a few routes of your local area to start and when your new GPS comes in it will be ready to download your routes.

I already have the Harley trip planner saved in my favorites, I get my new unit in here I'll get it all downloaded and updated and then start playing. I was looking at the Garmin website it was all kinds of bells and whistles plus it will work with the mount I already have the Harley trip planner looks like the program I have been needing thanks for the link.

I use a tom tom euro rider2 and found this program really helpfull.
Tyre Don't know about compatability with other systems but is worth a look.

OK Doug, I've downloaded the programme, it looks very useful & I'm sure it is for those intelligent folk who can figure out how to use it, by that I do mean how to use the help function which seems not to relate to Google maps. When I figure it all out I shall thank you Doug, in the meantime you've given me a headache.

The caveman has emerged into the light, "Big Doug" I bow before you, after a little practice & realising that the help menu actually refers to Google earth & not Maps it was fairly strait forward. I have now compiled a route, saved it and installed it in my Tom Tom device, I haven't travelled it yet but it all seems ok on screen, so well done Doug my headache is now gone. Now then all we need to do is enlighten "The Kid" who is apparently still in his cave.:D
