I have been having some health issues over the last yr or so and I haven't been able to ride much since July of last year. I purchased my 06 used back in June of 09 and when I got it home, I found that it was in need of the upgrade kit. The Triumph dealership in OKC, OK done the upgrade for free much to my surprise. The bike had a motorcycle tire on the rear when I first got it with 11,k mikes on the bike. I put 2,k miles on the bike while waiting for the parts to show. So the total time I have spent riding the Rocket was about 6 weeks and 2,k miles with a M/T. When the bike was in the shop having the up grade done I went ahead and had a car tire install on the bike when it had 13,k showing. That was September of 09. Because of my neck and shoulder surgeries, the bike now shows 21,k miles on it and it is just now getting ready for its 10k service.
I had what is hopefully my last surgery 2 weeks ago. I am looking at another couple months of rehab before they are talking about letting me ride again. That throws me into May and then I have a large project turnaround scheduled for this fall from mid September thru the end of October. So the bottom line is, it looks like I am not going to be doing a lot riding this year either.
I am wanting to hit the twisties as much as possible in between now and then and I have been thinking about switiching the rear tire out for a matching Avon to go on the rear just to see how it handles with a motorcycle tire on it. I fully plan on keeping the Raptor to go back on the bike next winter when I have the Avon wore out. This will allow me to try both worlds .
I have been riding a motorcycle with a car tire on it since 02 and don't know if I remember how to ride with a M/T. 1st was the 01 Boss Hoss and then the Valkriey Interstate and now the Rocket. From what I'm finding, the cheapest place to get an Avon 240/50/16 is from Sport tourer.com for 250.00 with freight.
So what does everybody else think about switch from a C/T to a M/T for 4 or 5 months? ????
Chime in, I'm a big boy, I can handle it.

I just went dark side and all that I can offer is dont try so hard to lean into a turn. The bike will respond more quickly to turns with a MC tire. Good luck.

I ordered a new rear Avon Cobra tire from Southwest Mototires about two weeks ago for $249 and free shipping....had it delivered to my door about 4 days later. Had it installed today (replaced a Metzeler) and I immediately noticed a difference...seemed like a "softer" ride, less road noise, and better handling.

Here's the link.... swmototire.com

Hope this info helps....good luck.

Knock yourself out:D I think it is a good idea even though I have a car tyre on myself I would feel more secure in the twisties with a MC tyre on.
Here in Florida we have 18curves in 318 miles:D

i thought it was 2 curves:eek::D

I am going to have to go down there to this strange far away place with all the curves that everyone calls Florida. My son came in last night and said he was heading to the Keys next week for a week long conference. Maybe he can check out all these curves that Warp is talking about and come back and give the old man a first hand report. lol
