Hi,
My thoughts are that the rear would be a Michelin CrossClimate2, and the front would be the largest rear winter off/on road (dual sport) winter tire I could find. As a general direction. Have to check numbers. Concerned about having proper ****** warmer, for family joules. Thinking of basing on electric hand warmers. Ideas?

Made a bit of progress on wmter tires:
1) The key is the rear tire
2) Rear tiresare 250/50 16, expressed in another way 10x16x25 (inches: width, rim diameter, wheel circumference)
OR equivalent in mm or cm

3) Of course one can accept to drive with a flatter car tire, and go easy in the curves like with this Michelin Latitude
X-Ice Xi2 245/45 R16 (attached) which "should" fit.

4) But closest shape to 10x16x25 inches, so far, is a military tire for jeep, butwidth is only 9" and rims are 20", but look at shape!! (see attached): centre line for quiet straigh riding, edge curves for turning...
but shopping for military tires not obvious, enen in the "pre-owned" category. How about in your country?
Thx

Look at agriculture or tractor tires. Not sure they are speed rated.
Hi Random,
Ya, I did look at some but didn't find any matching wifths, they're mostly all too wide (farmers getting stuck in mud or something).
Another line that looked promising was off-road tires for 4x4 ATV's, where a Traxion Nitro Tire 25x10-12 (25" circumf matches, 10" width ok, but rim is 12": see attached picture; nice shape though).
I think the only way to find A or some match(es) is to make a shoutout to biker communities at large, in all countries, to ask for eyes in ground and ears to the air to find a match in military, agricultural or offroad vehicle with at least matching width and rim size and as close as possible size. Flexibility will be more important than speed rating. If I can just get around town at city-speeds that would be fine, on days when pavement is completely clear of snow and ice (most winter days, as they use salt on roads and traffic does rest).

Thanks for suggestion.

Hi All,
Attached: Montreal on Jan 4th, 2023, winter and not a spec of snow. No not sunny, or prettiest part of town, but only about freezing. Now riding around town at 50kph [30 mph] isn't that hard from a cold point of view.
The average temperauture here in winter is about -7°C [19°F]. Now I'm not saying that it doesn't get **** cold here during winter, and there's no more snow. But when it does snow, between shoveling/salting/sanding and traffic bringing back dry, cleared ashfault, you can have 1-2 weeks of safe, useful riding. So the main purpose of "winter tires" on a bike is to avoid unnecessary traffic fines. Not necessarily to race on smow and ice. Four (4) months of need for winter tires for bikes is excessive.
For automobiles, 4 month's ok. Most accidents involving bikes are caused by stupid car drivers.

Hi, new to the forum, hope I can help
I managed to find
255/65 r16 for suv winter
245/75 r16 for regular car winter
245/70 r16 offroad , might get exact dimensions but I would have to contact seller if you are interested?
Bit higher then what you need but one might fit?

Hi Zrale
Thanks for your findings. The best solution I found is to collect Rocket3 tires and have them custom retreaded with a winter tire design of preference. There are some companies that will fo this even for small volumes.
Tire retreading is done with airplane, truck, agricultural and military vehicles.
But I've come to accept that possibly a simpler and more fun choice would be to buy a skidoo (snow mobile).

Cheers
