2008 classic.

had the clutch lifint lever go out about the 3000 miles marker. that made for a fun ride into work in morning rush hour traffic in houston. lol.

;)

Wholly Crap! I understand shifting without the clutch but how on earth did you handle coming to a stop and started? I am familiar with Houston traffic. Anyhow, my hat is off to you. That was a real feat indeed.

Well, I just burned out my 3rd ignition switch.

- The first was in the stock location and the solder brought.
- The second was in the relocated position and got really hot and burned out.
- The third was in the relocated position wrapped head to toe in Dei HEATTAPE. It never got hot but it rolled over and went dead over the weekend.

I'm getting really frustrated ponying up for these....

Mine leaked when it was new, dealer tried to tell me it was expected during the break in period ... I told them they were full of **** and made them replace it.

Internal problems seem to exacerbate one another. In my case, the output bearing is shot and I have a rubba shifter as well.

Every bike has problems. Beemers break their final drive (paralever) castings, Honda's break frame welds. Even my KLR has problems. Kawasaki adamantly refuses to recognize that the ring sets on the OEM slugs don't have enough tension and consequently allow oil past at sustained rpm over 5K. At least Triumph is aware of it's deficiencies and will correct them, most times at no expense to the end user.

All production vehicles, whether 2 or 3 or 4 wheeled are compromises between form, function, affordability and profit margins. To build a (as perfectly engineered and executed) motorcycle and offer it to the public, would be so expensive that it would never sell because very few could afford it. An example is the MV Agusta at 50K and even it's not ideal.

Of course after today, very few might change to entitled few.

I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent arrival of the highly regarded Ducati Diavel. This bike may meet the conditions you refer to Flip. I've always been partial to the venerable Ducati line anyway and finally one seems to be on the horizon that I might want to consider adding to my modest little stable. Generally though, I'm very pleased with my somewhat used and previously slightly abused Rocket! I'll try to correct her deficiencies and enhance her graces:rolleyes:
