Dumbass Question.

If you load a tune you should always follow the reset TPS prodeure, it clears the memory of might be bad adaptives set by the O2 sensor which could be the cause if you read the online manual for TuneEcu it says that after message that download is complete you need to turn of and back on a gain the ignition wait 10 second then turn on now when the green light at bottom of screen comes on to tell you it is connected to the Ecu go to the top of the screen and in the bottom of the Ecu drop down menu there will be the reset button click it and a little window will ask you to confirm, once you have done so it will make a whir a some clicks in the TPS and tell you it is done.
This procedure needs to be done after any changes to Ecu and I actully find that while I was running a tune which had the O2 sensor on that it was nessisary to reset every so often as the O2 sensor appears to overly lean of the lower fueling around the low throttle and idle sin switching to a tune that has the O2 sensor Off I have found bike a lot smoother, you could also switch of your O 2 sensor thru TuneECU if it kept going back to excessive lean condition( decel pop, backfiring etc)
 
I unchecked mine in ecu then unplugged it and chucked it and installed the eliminator for the engine management light
I dont see the point in a custom tune if the o2 sensor is going to lean it out all the time .
just rip the **** thing out
 
The O2 sensor is used only at low throttle positions. Look at the A/F table.
 

OK. Just went back out and did that. Green light, ECU drop down had a "Reset Adaption" which I pushed. Confirm message as well.
Bike did the usual start up noises like it does when the key is first turned on and then all finished.
Disconnect and started up.
Same problem. Idles at about 500RPM when cold. Stalls if I take my hand off the throttle.
I'm thinkin it's most likely the stepper motor.



Is the O2 sensor the one in the exhaust???
If so, it's not there any more with the K&N set up. There's a bung in the exhaust and 4 little rubber gromets in the electrical plug beside the ECU.
I can't see how the ECU could be reading any info from the sensor if it's not there, unless it's trying to compensate for the fact that it's not getting info at all. Not sure

Should I have ticked a box to say that the sensor has been deleted???? Not sure where I should have done that, or was it already done in the existing program????
 
well well You dont have a PC3 lurking somewhere there under one of the sidecovers do you, PC meaning Power Comander and I would most definately Not have a Tick in the O2 sensor box if you have not got one Like you I think it may be in the steper motor or the TPS which is the sensor that tell the steper where to Go sorry just a bit of fun at the end there
 
ECU has Triumph written on it and the correct VIN# for the bike.
Not really that familiar with either PC or tuneboy but from what I've seen, if it has a Power Commander then the whole ECU is changed or an extra box beside it???
Is that right

Power Comander( not a Triumph Part) is an extra box and will clearly say Power comander on it, could have been put on either side it piggy backs through the wiring on to the ECU but might be mounted any where
 
Will have another look, but I don't think so.
The ECU has 2 leads going into it and both reasonably short in their distance that run once leaving the original loom.

With the PC, does it unplug one or both of these leads and replug with new wires and extensions to the new programmer???
 
The reason I mentioned the PC's is because they require you to disable the O2 sensor.
Mitch(who has just had one put on) or some of the other Guys would probally be able to answer that, I don't actually have one as I have been holding of till the rest of my Enigine, Exhaust mods are done which will then require a run on a dyno and that where the PC3 or PCV for the later bikes are handy, I'm actually looking at another called a Dobeck which doesn't require a dyno run
 
My power commander is mounted under my seat
you have to lift the tool kit out to see it.

however the power comander will only control the air fuel ratios if installed
you may want to have another look at the tune loaded into your bike on the tune ecu program click on the idle menu on the left hand side and you can view where the bike will idle at certain temps. i have seen a couple of the custom tunes set a bit low.

otherwise yes indeed you may have a stepper problem
