Yes I did the self tune. Brought it home hot and left it idle for 20 minutes just to be sure.
Bike actually harder to start since I did this. I have to stay with it when I start it cold of a morning. No push the button and then walk away and put my gear on. It's put the gear on and sit on it with the throttle stightly cracked so it won't stall.
Impatience now makes me warm up for less than a minute then do the rest on a slow ride down the road. Problem there is I live in the country and am straight out onto open speed roads so by the time I've done 2 miles it running at normal speeds.
He's also a bit cranky on a hot start after sitting for 15 or 20. Have to slightly crack the throttle then as well.
It's like I need to turn the idle screw up an1/8th of a turn, but I don't think there is such a thing.

I'ts these niggling little imperfections that take the gloss off riding.

Good point in highlighting colour. Black isn't a colour anyway, it's a contract, so the black ones don't even count do they.

Mines RED with a lot of contrast.

just make sure you use a good 10 inch laptop running XP preferibley with a good RAM and Good Processor Speed the first time you connect make sure you upload the tune in ECU and rename it something you will remember and save it, it will take a while the first time you connect so make sure you have power(computor) supply handy and maybe put bike battery connected to a Tender to maintain charge in Bike system especially if your battery is at all doubtfull (it will take a few minutes the first time so don't stress after that it only takes 30 seconds or so to make changes)

Clearly your bike started life as a black one and only the colour was changed, or it's reacting to having so much of the chrome blacked out.

I've had a soft spot for the R3's since my first test ride a few years back but have only just in the past few weeks actually bought one.
Don't know if others ever thought this, but when Triumph first released the Rocket 3 I said "Who in their right right mind would want to ride a 2.3L motorbike. That's rediculous". Obviously I've seen the light.

To be honest, I wasn't planning on buying one just yet but everything just fell into place at the right time for me. I sold my Sprint RS. My wife was wanting to downsize from her Thunderbird Sport and it sold within 3 days of the ad going online and this bike came up around the same time, so I jumped on it.
Sad part of all that is that now I have a huge learning curb to undertake on a new type of bike in a reletively short period, hense the stupid questions.

It's a bit of a mystery to me as to what is and isn't really done to the bike but I'll tell you what I do know.

2007 Rocket standard in Cardinal Red.
Has got Jardine 3:1:2 pipes and Triple K&N filters.
Still has the secondaries fitted and for the moment I'm not in a rush to remove them either. firstly remove these suckers it will only make it smoother
Will take me a little while to master the beast as it is, so not in a rush to prematurely remove the bridle if you know what I mean.

As I bought this bike from a non Triumph dealer I haven't been able to glean much information as to what else has been done in relation to the ECU.
They couldn't give me the contact details of the previuos owner so for all I know it's still running the stock program. Very possibly so I know a guy who did this and it used to pop and backfire all the time, the idle problem is more likely a TPS reset issue

Problems I have noticed with the bike are a lot of backfiring on de-cel, won't idle by itself on cold start and on occasions is hard to start when hot. I am thinking it is to lean seeing as you have cleaned the sensor
Am going to pull the exhaust system apart and make sure there are no air leaks, but I think it's in the ECU myself. Idoubt it is the pipes, when you get the cable load the tune Dougl suggested He would know he is very up with the TuneECU and I personly haveing tried other tunes and now run a Wayne Tripp tune he is probally the best Rocket Tunner on this Planet, here's that link again http://www.tomhamburg.net/Tunes_in_...cketIII/Power-Tripp Jardine 3xK&NRU-2780a.zip

Have got a VAG COM cable on order and hopefully here by the end of next week.

Have got a local fella who has a dyno but when I spoke with him he seemed a bit vague on these things so not in a rush to let him practice his learning of them at my $$ per hour expense just to find out he didn't get it right.

Can anyone tell me the best TuneECU to install from the info I've supplied??????????
