Do you want great headlights?

they're HL79564 and known as the E-code headlights. i got a package deal by buying two of them. i also got the better headlight bulbs recommended by will who works there at susquehanna motorsports. him and his dad are both accustomed to dealing with me, they will know me as jim from checotah oklahoma if you call them. they're in fleetwood, pa, and are quite helpful. now you must know that these e-code headlights are not dot approved, for offroad use, etc. i noticed when i got my 08 R3 classic that the low beam was sorta okay, but not great, and the high beam was great as long as i wanted to see what's up in the tops of the trees. i have not aimed them, but i know how much of an improvement the e-code headlamps make, so for me it's an essential mod. i'll be calling them first thing monday morning to make sure the headlights were shipped to me. the total for both headlights including the pair of greatly upgraded bulbs at the stock wattage was $117.08 i'll be sure to post a note in here to update you guys. will and his dad the owner of susquehanna motorsports are both aware of the conversations and dealings i've had with them and they'll surely be quite helpful.
 
while you're reading in the susquehanna motorsports website you can also find excellent quality relays if you want to use one. as far as the R3T, i'm not sure what size headlight they use. if it's a 7" headlight, then it's going to be as easy as swapping out the glass part of your headlight to accomplish great lighting. i'm guessing that the R3T also uses the Hi/Low H-4 bulb. if so, then you'll be good to go with just swapping out the lend and reflector assembly. i assure you that once you see it, nothing else compares, not even the new $500.00 LED headlights. and these cost around $50.00 per headlight. for me it's a no brainer. the best you can get for cheap, duh, yeah, i'm all over that sort of deal.
 
i just got the hella headlamp housings in friday, but with current back problems from lifting my rocket after it fell in the front yard, it'll be a while till i get to building a wiring loom. their website is Susquehanna MotorSports - High Performance Vehicle Lighting and Competition Accessories and with the upgraded bulbs the total with shipping was $117 bucks. thank god for vicodin and jack daniels. the quality of the housings is great and no mods are needed to install them into the chrome buckets at all. i expect to be really happy with this mod, and i've used the e-code headlights for years on several bikes, guzzis, beemers, harleys, and now my rocket 3. i'll update you guys as soon as i get in shape to where i can get back out in the shop to do something productive.

hey guys, i'll get out in the shop tomorrow and take some pictures of the housing and bucket and a bit of a comparison between the triumph housing vs the hella e-code housing. there's a very noticeable improvement with the hella units. as far as the guy in the uk who's wanting to do the same sort of upgrade, remember you guys ride on the wrong side of the road, and can get cibies and hellas there in the uk easily. i think yours is the r3T, and if so, it may use a 7" headlight housing. if so, then it'll be as easy as swapping out your headlamp. but i haven't forgotten, i'll get some pictures as work progresses.
 
i'm sorry guys for not getting back with you as far as results as to how they work in my 08 classic. this will sound a bit cliche' but there's a night and day difference in how well the new headlight housings work. there's a distinct cut off at the top so you don't have oncoming traffic flashing their brights at you. they're easy to adjust and i adjusted mine by putting the right wrench in the pocket of my jacket and going out for a night time ride. i have not noticed any additional draw to the electrical system, but as many of you have mentioned, the eastern beaver relay is a good thing to have so i'll be installing that mod soon. they have a crisp white light and they push the light out much further than what the stock ones did. if someone installs the hella E-code headlamps, please post your results too. i already know that if you get them, you'll be surprised with how well they work compared to stock. jim. p.s. triumph phil, yeah i know about lifting the heavy bikes. it was a fluke for me. the bike fell off its side stand and was resting flat against the ground so i got it up to 45 degrees and it was resting on the crash bars. standing back about 15 feet, looking at my bike, i got pissed off and just went over and gave her a big tug. yeow=crunch/pop, and off to the e.r. for cat scan and x-rays. yep, broke the hell out of L-4. ride safe guys and enjoy the upcoming summer.
