I got my new seat in today. I went all the way. A dual touring seat with drivers backrest, heated. I had a little time during lunch to look at it.
Corbin may make some great stuff, but I think they need to go back and re-think the way they are mounting this thing.
Instead of using triumphs nifty latch system, someone had the bright idea to bolt this to the rear fender. Ok, it is a big seat and might need some extra support, but the darn thing is so heavy, you can just sit it there, and it's not going anywhere.
So now, instead of being able to pop off the seat with your key, you have to break out the tools. But wait a minute- you don't have any tools because they are UNDER THE SEAT! DUH... Hope you don't ever have a need for that emergency toolkit.
Then to add insult to injury, they give you these Velcro straps from the dollar store so that you can Velcro your fuse box lid back on, because their wiring connector won't fit inside the fuse box.
It's a 7.5 amp fuse connector, so I pulled one of the 10 amps and plugged it in. Now my bike won't crank. I read some more of the instructions, they recommend plugging into the heated grip fuse. Ok, I do that, now my heated grips won't work.
By now, I am running out of time so I have to head back to work. Maybe they sent me a bad fuse, I'll check that when I get back at it tonight. I got to get the thing installed before I leave for the Myrtle Beach rally tomorrow.
Don't get me wrong; I love Corbin’s seats; I like the firm seat and the quality work. But they could have done a better job fitting it to the bike.
