Clutch Failure

Going Friggin' nuts

An update on my clutch trouble. Triumph has agreed to cover the repair, and the dealer has agreed to give me the parts and let me assemble it myself. Parts were ordered middle of last week. I was really hoping they would be in by Sat., but nooooooo. I have missed out on some great riding days the last 2 weeks.

Wilber, just curious are they upgrading you to the new ball bearing or staying with the Torrington?

You will find the big T have changed the clutch design a 3rd time, and even they cannot tell when it was changed.Sometime late 07 they went to a 3rd type.

What's the change in the 3rd version, Nev? Did they go to a heavier ball bearing? Or change the lifter shaft? No troubles with the Lock-Up since I went to heavier ball bearing.

I wish I knew. The service manager has gone to Seattle for training and the parts man said he could not tell because the service man. ordered the parts straight from Triumph. I can't even find out if he ordered all the parts I need.

I wonder what that third design is?

Your parts man should be able to look up all that info. They can't even tell what when how or if there really is an up grade..Good luck Wil----Jack

Parts came in late yesterday. Lisa has the day off, so I dispatched her to Raleigh to get them. I'll have them in my grubby little hands about lunch time..................

Son Of A %&*#@***

The good news is that I got a new style pressure plate. The bad news is that the lifter piece, lifter shaft, bearing and washer is all old design stuff.
The parts guy I called and talked to didn't hardly know what a bearing was, all he could say is that the service manager will be back tomorrow.I should have just ordered the parts and paid for it myself.

Hope you guys are having a good day.

Here are some of the pics of the clutch problems.

had all of the same problems with my 05.
two local dealers don't know anything about the upgrades in 06 .
they sold me the same failed parts twice.
@ 10 k the shift actuator bolt fell out through the trans.
ate a wafer bearing and lifter piece right after that.
burned up new clutch and stator at 30k.
I have to do all of my own work because the two local dealers don't employ anyone with Rocket experience.
I don't consider changing the oil "experience".
