All I can say is that I've taken some long distance rides (cross country, multi-state), on a '01 Road King, a '99 SoftTail Standard, and I owned an '01 Road Glide for a while, and all were great rides that were very reliable. My buddy James has an Electra Glide Standard with 60 something thousand miles on it, and I believe his wife's Road King is closing in on that as well. None of them have had any major issues. I will say the SoftTail almost left me stranded, BUT.. thank God for Reserve!.. hahaha. The '01 Road King I rode did sprout an oil leak through the primary gasket, but that was easily fixed by, get this.. some bikini girls doing oil changes..

Truthfully, they were surprisingly very knowledgeable and if I wasn't married.. Hey, what's better than a girl who knows bikes?.. lol
I really enjoyed the my Road Glide, and it actually had some get up and go. The only reason I sold it is because, well.. I'm a Triumph guy at heart, and also a muscle car guy.. I have no muscle cars.. but the Rocket definitely fits the bill..

Harley has one thing that I WISH TRIUMPH WOULD TAKE NOTE OF. Hydraulic valve lifters that never need adjustment! HELLO, this technology has been around since the early 1900s? Even the Honda NightHawk 750 has hydraulic lifters, so don't say it can't be done with over head cam..
Just as I suspected, unfounded rhetoric...
