RocketDaryl,
Bet that was a upholstery repair. I haven't had to clean the rotors yet but I keep a can of brake cleaner around. Spray some on a rag and wipe.
The wheels are uncoated aluminum and using car wax or rain x after a good polish helps with the next polish. You dont have to work as hard to get them clean.

I still had my front brakes so it wasn't an "Oh ****" moment. I initially thought I had a brake failure on the rear, however, as I called myself being very careful with the WD, but the brakes came back slowly; I was on my way to work (25 mile ride one way). The brakes came back by the time I got to work and I've never had another issue so I had to have inadvertently rubbed the oil saturated rag on the rotor somehow.

What do you guys use to get the break dust and chain lube (for those of you with those types of bikes) off of your wheels and calipers? WD40 is the best thing I've found, but you have to be REAl careful not to get it on the rotors (for obvious reasons). Don't ask me how I know about the rotors.
Be very careful what you use on the wheels with the newer bikes .... the clear coat is very soft and will get softer with the wrong chemicals. My wheels look like **** already just from small lumps of hot brake dust stuck/melted into the coating. They now look and feel like the surface of the moon, rough specks of black stuck oll over the clear coat. YUK!

I've been using spray away Stainless Steel cleaner. I spary it on and us the leaf blower to blow the extra off.then sun it and it looks great.

The stainless cleaner I use on my grill tends to take off paint in some places, You aren't worried about taking the finish off the motor with it?

Oklahoma crude works well.
just stop at a pump jack,
open the valve,
point towards the engine, and
presto chango,
new black engine.;)

Seriously I washed mine and LeAnns the other day.
Time for mines yearly bath and time for hers weekly bath,
Anyway it's BLACK under all that red Oklahoma dirt.
Looked pretty good too till the first trip down our dirt road..

Tried the pledge (lemon) works well :D

Just tried the lemon Pledge (switch from Plexus) top to bottom, front to back and it worked every bit as well and smells better for a third of the cost.

I've never used water to wash the rock, but I'm thinking Pledge is the way to go.:D
