Bevel box leak?

I'm doing the disassembly today on replacing my rear tire when I noticed grease around the box where it sits around the wheel. Has a seal gone bad?

There is a O ring seal on the wheel. Replace it.

I had the same thing a while back. Just a bit too much grease. Took the wheel off and cleaned it up a bit, all good now.

The bevel box is filled with oil not grease but as @bruce aussie suggests there may have been too much grease in the bevel box to wheel area

I concur with the above statment the grease on the wheel splines it the likely culprit. Of course i commend you on over lubrication which is much better then none at all.

Thanks guys. I should have waited to post. Whoever assembled the bike had a shyt load of grease in there.
