I have Avons on the front and back. They were on the 2007 bike last year when I bought it used, with only 6000 miles. I assume it's the second set of tires but I don't know when they were put on the bike. There seems to me a lot of tread but the ride seems a little squirrely. Could the tires be brittle because of age? Even though they wear out faster, I prefer the softer Metzlers.
Check the date of manufacture. On the sidewall after DOT there is a code which gives the week and year. EG 3309 would be the 33rd week of 2009

wow!! at that price I just ordered another spare I now seat with a new rear mounted , one on a shelf and another on order.if only I could find another azaro?

Sure like my Azaro, thanks to your tip, Amigo!
I shall be sad when it requires replacement.

Check the manufacture date like Duk O' Death said..
My engineer gurus say no longer than 8 years old on a MC tire.

Long as they are not too old.

I dont think it was E Max but it was a Bridgestone. It had more of a touring style M&S tread pattern and it was a 180 tire. Not like the Meztler or Avon. That bike has been gone for several years. I remember the bike always felt squirrely in the corners, like it wanted to slide out from under me.
THATS a different tire so look at the EXCEDRA MAX thats a great tire and a proven one
