Anything , even apes would improve the riding position of the earlier V-Rods. Newer models are a bit more rider friendly. Agree that apes on a V-Rod do look odd.

Before buying my R3T, the Victory with apes was number one on my list. It handled better than the traditional bars on the other Victories IMO. I don’t think I’ll put apes on my bike now, but even with a long piece of titanium in my left arm, those apes felt real good, granted, they are not the ones in the picture of the yellow bike. I do think I may put 1-2” risers on this ride at some point. Need a few more miles first to be sure though.

Amen Boog. Out of three victorys the Hi ball ( with factory apes) was the best handling most comfy one of all.

Use to think apes were just to prevent SAP till I road one with them. Only 14 inches. Wouldn't try them on the rocket though.

I like the Harball best but they discontinued it since it was the same as the Cross Roads with a different handle bar. No matter, I love my rocket and am quite happy with it as is and won't be putting the Apes on it. But if i get a Victory some day I may do it then...maybe.

I've always put a very high value on handling. Even on my touring bikes. It's part of what led me to go with the R3T when I was in the market for a touring bike. The one thing that I REALLY hated was the stock wheelbarrow handlebars on the R3T. They bend your wrists in an unnatural angle. I did a lot of research to find a suitable bend. What I ended up with fits pretty well, is comfortable on 500+ mile rides. What I discovered is that handlebars for Harley's springer front end has knurling spaced only 1/4" off from the riser spacing of the R3T. What I ended up using is called a "12 baby ape". Now keep in mind a Harley is a mid-sized bike compared to the R3T. So on the R3T it doesn't look like apehangers. It looks like a very reasonable touring bend. Jireh Cycles has these bars at a great price and your wrists won't be bent at a weird angle. Hope this helps.

WOW! Now that's a whole new level of STUPID! Maybe we can encourage gangbangers to
to get bikes and set them up like this. We need more organ donors.

There is always the HELIBAR OPTION - Horizon bars. Silly money imo - but.......

I made my own taller bars. Taller but narrower and stiffer - got the wrist angles spot on.
