Our Disarming started because of an horrific Mass murder in Tasmania that shocked our Nation and several more shocking incidents involving firearms , The Government quite rightly were compelled to act on gun ownership
however instead of a reasonable approach they effectively made ever gun owner re apply for licensing under a narrow criteria of rules ,not everyone has permission or wants to "Reduce Feral Animals" or join and attend a required number of "club day Shoots" so most people fearing the full wrath of the Law handed in their guns ,some that had been in the Family for Generations and the owners didn't even have Ammunition for.the Govt valued these hand ins at a pittance and paid the owners accordingly.mean while the bad guys just kept their guns
on the other hand Gun crime has increased and the revolving door of our judicial system has not put any fear of justice for those who do offend,
in my opinion the licensing system did need a change and some restrictions on licensing was required, but the penalties of gun crime are not a harsh enough to deter offenders.

Well said, Mate.
I certainly appreciate your comments.
My last comment before returning to the thread at hand: NO law abiding person without criminal record should EVER be denied his right to bear arms for his personal protection. PERIOD!

I checked out that Xena XX14 on Amazon for $64 USD.
Looks to be the real deal and I got within ounces of a mouse click of buying it.
Then I thought -
Something else heavy to carry around?
Will I use it regularly? Well, not likely.
Why? Because I don't like bending over for extended periods with my knees, hip and back as they be.
Out on the road when I stop for beer and/or food I have already waited too long and I'm in a hurry.
How about use when parking at night at some away from home unknown location?
This one I have NO good answer for!
I have just ordered the Xena XX14!!!:p:thumbsup:

My ride is properly and fully insured. If some arsehole has the stones to steal it, I'd probably profit on the deal, so - "no worries", really.;)

This would be a different story if I was doing any sort of substantial touring, though!

Well, Phil that "substantial touring" comprises most of my riding. While riding, I likely spend more than two dozen night in hotels far away from home.
That was enough for me to convince myself - BUT, I gotta tell ya, it was a helluva discussion, some even out loud!!!

Dam, Frenchie, if two guys who can totally lift my over 800 pound R3R up and into a van can get the job done silently enough for me not to hear them or the running van through the nearby open window, I guess I'll have to just stomp around yelling expletives for awhile and then call my insurance.
Then find the nearest Triumph dealer!:mad::mad::mad:o_O:D:thumbsup:

Here in New Jersey a simple decal serves just as well, if not better, than any alarm...
