I am sorry to have to ask this, I've tried finding the reason but... Why is there an air filter under the seat of my roadster, and 3 more under the bear claw? What is the purpose to have one under the seat? Usually I would assume that if you have 2 cylinder bike like a vtwin, it would have 2 air filters.. but in this case 3 cylinders and 4 air filters?

Sorry for the supposedly naive question but I couldn't find a result on google specifically on this... Just trying to learn as much as I can. :)

If your bike is stock it will have one air filter and that is located under the seat. Many have replaced that with three K&N filters under the bear claw and removed the intake plumbing freeing up space for easier servicing whilst gaining performance and more storage space.

there will be several opinions, but mine is that sucking air under the seat is cooler air than sucking air off the motor. the cooler the air the more volume you can get into the engine. i base that on the fact that most cars run the duct up to the front so they get the air before it goes across the engine.
some of the guys use a ram air effect that would catch the air.
i don't know how yours looks so i won't comment on the other filters.

sounds like someone went triple filters and just left the old air box alone. You should look and see how much of the original plumbing is left under the tank. It could be they left it to return it to stock faster and easier when they pu**** down the road.

somebody did not bother to clean the plumbing obviously the filter under the seat is not being used .what brand are the filters under the bearclaw do they look like K&N 2780 check if they are still oiled . did you receive your brackets got mine yesterday

What !?? You mean California is still the top dog of crazy useless rules ?

as far as air cleaners and cat converter goes I suppose so we are still left with reasonable emission control laws up here
but... do not go shouting it out on roof tops,,, you may attract some canadian politicians!!like flies on turds
