Can anyone tell me if there is a clear air filter oil for K&N filters? I want to keep the original grey color, since I'm going to cut the bearclaw, and they will be exposed. Thanks.

They come pre-oiled so you shouldn't have to worry about the red stuff until later. K&N and Outerwears make colored pre-filter covers that is also an option.
Talking about K&Ns I just cleaned mine after about 10000miles and boy did I remove a bunch of grime, I will probably clean them every 5000 miles from now on.
I used the K&N cleaning kit cost around $10
Now this is where I get in trouble I have never kept a record of mpg for any vehicle I have ever owned probably just stupid old me but I do not see the point in it.
When I cleaned them I also changed the plugs, rear diff, new oil , new front and rear brakes and polished the big beastie.
I will give it a good run this weekend as I was to busy watching the Champion League games this week to do much riding.
I washed them hung tham up went to work came home they were bone dry, if I had not done it that way I would be like you wash oil and ride all in five minutes.
Your actual flow won't decrease any measurable amount until they vecome really disgusting. They (K&N) actually filter better if they are a little grungy.
Jeeze, ain't it a shame they don't filter till the old dirt keeps the new dirt from going through. After cleaning hold them up to sun light and look at the size of the holes. Or after cleaning and oiling roll them in dirt to make them filter better. Link Removed
