I satisfied that this one is just unfortunate timing. I heard and felt the pressure plate bolt go the second it happened..sadly i was already in motion at a fair clip. It could have gone at any other time and there wouldn't have been any damage.

Finally got hold of the alternator removal tool and split the cases. Id say i was shifting to third from 2nd when the clutch gave way and the result is as you see below...

Tall one is 3rd out and short one is 3rd in

At least you still got that great sense of humour !

You'll be ok...i ride mine pretty hard all the time and these types of breakdowns are just part of the cost of ownership for me
