10K Darkside Update

Darkside and StraightLine All the same?

I remember a streetcar in Cleveland Ohio where all they did was go in a straight line..... never a turn....and was a lot cheaper than driving..........

One month of heat bill up North pays for the correct tire....why limit the capability of rider or Moto machine?

Ring ....Ring ......I hear a Rocket coming ....or was that the streetcar?????/:p

Busted!

Damaged still aint found a dark sider in my woods to do a true comparison...Cant even find a R3 to run with let alone one with a car tire....Still getting 7 out O the MC tire. The D12 is about the same. Run most two up but Goods is a better rider than me so its hard for the R3 to understand she is back there.....Damaged has a question......When putt putting on Hegira street, in SLO with Goods on the back looking at all the shops, what is a car tire going to do, with here rubber necking all the shops as we go by....Cuzz it is a hand full with a MC tire....Still looking for a track day gena pig In Ca.

I guess you didin't get to read my last post. No limits on the bike. I'd rather spend my money on bling.:D the Darkside is not for you, ... I get it:cool:

Capitol Triumph in Raleigh, NC, has no problem with my car tire. They said almost all their R3 owners had gone that way.

Freight, I'll follow you through any twisty you want with no problem.

I know I have posted this before, but watch under the bike and you can see the Darkside at work.

I do know one thing. Metzler was the only tire Mfg to step up when they came up with the Rocket III. They did the best they could in the short development time they had for European standards. In my humble opinion it lacks stamina, longevity, and holding the road ability. Avon has stepped up to take up the slack to put some competition where none was before. The comparo is still out. I will buy an Avon Cobra for my front next time, but stay dark on the backside period.

I've got the Cobra on front, and really like it.....but what would I know, I just drive in a perfectly straight line (because of my Darkside)lol:rolleyes:

Thanks Gunshots for the update. I believe I'll have to go with the same tyre as you have, on my next change though I may go with the 205. The 280 T/W rating of my Cooper 2XS (50/225) isn't living up to expectations. I must be melting off more than I can hear (peeling skin). I have 8k on it, which is all I've gotten out of a stock Metzler. I know I'll still get twice the mileage over a stock tyre.

I've realized a diminished and uneven wear on the front. I've gotten 13k on a front prior to going over to the darkside. I'm at 10k now on the front and it's time to change over to the Dunlop Elite. I'm attributing this to an increase in counter steering. Results: The front tire is showing a bit more wear on the left side of center.

making hay

I know what you mean about making the tire tread thicker as your ride it more. I had a 185 on Cap 3000 and it would make fuel as you flew it around. Had half a tank starting out and 2hrs into the flight I had 3/4's of a tank!! You could fly non stop for days, just keep the piss bottle handy.:D
