one should use care,and be ready for pillion weight shift. Always.... even at a complete stand still, unexpected pillion weight shift can cause a spill on an inclined surface. I know this from first hand experience. It's down right scary in heavy traffic. I was complacent when I shouldn't have been. needless to say, it hasn't happened since.

...This is the problem I have......Millions read these post...Darksiders are good people, but the car tire has went to there heads and swelled them up.....You think I am stupid for not agreeing with you that your car tire will out perform a MC tire in the twistys ......TWISTYS.....TWISTYS....That would be roads with turns in them.....Thats all I was after.....You are thrifty people , and probably smarter than Damaged ...Until someone excepts my my challenge, I will stick with a MC tire...Or do a track day with the two .

There are those that demand the same performance from their FBGs whether that was before or after changing over to the dark side. Will the same person challenge a crouch rocket on the twissties against a good ride on a crouch rocket. I won't but that's not my style. I enjoy life and the scenery. I can only imagine the thrust of cycle riding for crouch rider is the thrill of speed. What else can it be with your head a bar level and you're sitting on your nuts. I'd want to get to where ever I was going very fast as well!

slopping roads are very interesting to negotiate.

How much a concern are these car tires when negociating leaning turns with two riding...or picking up uneven road surface at slow speeds..I want my guts on the bike and not off of it??

I find the 225 dark side Cooper to be very stable on most surfaces. Including low speed grass and loose gravel parking areas and driveways. Speeds over your extended local graveled roads, can offer a learning curve challenge for some. The latitudinal breaks in highways are felt more greatly than the much narrower ground patch of the Metzler. Knowing the feel and flavor of such breaks is the key to no alarming circumstances. Potholed driveways and lots are a *****! Practice makes perfect! I know there is far more power of the beast translating into forward movement with my dark side tire, than into peeling layers of rubber off the Metzler under mere enthusiastic acceleration!

Darkside Question? To Triumph INC

Hope y all having a warm day!!!!

Has anyone written Triumph INC and rec'd their comments of using the car tire? I would really like to hear from Triumph.......not that they have an agenda with Metz but what there data or no data comments would be? Would be interesting what attributes are considered by the triumph Company to decide on the tire for the R3.

Give me an address I would be happy to write and report

I'd just as soon not ask them. They won't like the idea, it cuts into their dealers profit. If they thought the idea was catching on, they'd come up with some bogus warranty issues to mandate, besides I really don't care of what their opinion would be. They shouldn't have come some with some bastard size of tire with limited choices. The Dark Side so far is working great for me. It makes the ride so much more fun not resurfacing the road with Metz rubber.

I'd rather you not ask about it either. They are not going to endorse it for the reasons Snuff listed above. Some things are just as well left unsaid.

Hey Freightbusters, why not ask Honda how they feel about putting car tires on Valks and Rhunes. You will get the same answer that Triumph will give I guarantee you that. But there is always somebody that just doesn't seem to understand some things.

According to the local dealer here . . . Triumph DOES know there are car tires on Rockets and they have already told dealers it is a BIG NO NO! I was talking to the owner back when I was just thinking about putting one on and he said it was brought up at the Dealers Meeting in Atlanta. Nothing came up about warranties, etc in our conversation.

I love the twisties, even though that's not exactly what the Rocket was designed for (my opinion). My Dark Side grips well enough for me to scrape the floor boards, and the chicken strips on my front tire are just about gone. I don't think you loose much by going Dark. There's just a learning curve on how it handles.
