I'm seriously thinking of doing the darkside thing but I would want the softest rubber they got in that size. I have a questions about it as it seems to like the flat part and it takes some effort to get it off of it from what I've read and slopping roads are very interesting to negotiate. Can you lite em up, or is that too much for the front end to hold? As cheap as they are it just seems too much the temptation.
My Yoko AVS ES100 has a treadwear of 280. It is a 245/50/16. You get so used to the rear tire that when you get on a bike with a regular tire it feels all tippy. On a road that slopes to the right, you just lean her a little to the left. Tight parking lot manuevers you just lean her up on edge and she will turn plenty sharp. I don't drop my clutch anymore as I don't want to be going back into it and I have stood her way up before, with a resulting hard landing of the front wheel cause I was too fast letting off the throttle. If you nail it from a rolling start, it will spin a little, but not like the Metz. You can get some wheel hop sometimes if you shock the rear real hard. The rear wants to follow cracks, tar snakes, etc more than normal, but I'm so used to that I don't notice it anymore. I have played with pressures a lot and have settled on 36 front and rear as my favorite.
After reading around a little more I ended up returning the 245/50 and re-ordered a 225/50 Goodyear Eagle (WalMart). It should be in tomorrow or the next day. Looking forward to giving it a try.
I might get a wee chirp from my darkside Cooper. The Metzler simply melted off (never heard a peep). The traction with the Cooper is phenomenal. Speaking of peeps, when was the last time Hondax chimed in.
I have never heard mine chirp, I have locked it up a couple times and it smokes plenty and smells the place up good. But then with almost 8 " of tire on the ground and 270 lb. on it I rather doubt it spins much.

Recently, a bag of vinegar and water pulled out in front of me. I fish-tailed left and right with the rear brake locked up. I was wondering if a darkside rubber would be better at stopping when upright? Seems like there would be more rubber on the ground.
The next day I saw my skinny snake-like skid mark and thought that it was only about 1 1/2" wide, slightly wider than the one in my skivies . Has anybody compared stopping power?
PS I know most braking power comes from the front but sometimes you gotta use everything you have to avoid punching a hole right through the drivers side door.
Road behind a Rune with a car tire this weekend and was not impressed with the way it handled the twisty s ......It seems that the pull for a car tire on a MC is based on MONEY.....I ride my bikes for the thrill of what they can do, a car tire will limit my thrill. I will spend the extra $ to ride a MC for what it was made for. If I cant afored the proper tire for my bike , then I will sell it.
