    More On Rear Shocks

I have decided to move the rear shocks up to the top of my want /need list. The bike has 30K on it and I have never seen stock shocks last very long. I am a lazy type so I am going to ask the group what is the stock size. I see them advertised from 11.5 to 12.5. I am assuming that 12 is the...

    Progressive 418 Shocks

I broke down and sent the standard 440's back to Summit Racing and decided not only to go with heavy duty, but changed to 418's due to the damper adjust ability. I did as much research as I could from their website but would rather hear from someone who has tried them on an R3. I liked the...
  3. Shocks (Asking more)

Ive read the 'shocks??' thread just now, however, Im still not sure on which one should be purchased from the Progressive line. I'm taking turns at around 60-70 and the rear is JUMPING up and down on NJ highways. I've managed to scrape down whats left of the bottom of the pegs. I'm 6'5 250...
  4. Roadster Shocks on '08 RCIII

A buddy is replacing his original Roadster shocks with 1" lower shocks and giving me his new OEM Roadster shocks for my 2008 RIII Classic. What should I expect the change to be? I'm hoping for a softer, or less harsh, ride. Will this be achieved by swapping out my originals with the Roadster...

Looking for the best price on Progressive Shocks 440's

Guys, I want to upgrade stock suspension to 440's (black) in the rear and the progressive fork kit in front. 1. I weigh 300 and assume that the HD is the way to go or do I go normal?? 2. Should I shorten or lengthen the shocks. If so why?? Not seeing any scraping in cornering YET, but I am...

    Triumph Comfort Touring rear shocks.

I have been watching this auction on ebay for these Comfort Touring Shocks for only a 100.00 bucks each. They retail for 599.00 each which is ludacriss in its self. But I kept watching and finally pulled the trigger today for a set of them for my 06 Classic. Is there anybody running these...

    Rear Shocks Dimensions

Guys I am in the process of deliberating on the way to go for the rear suspension on my 08 R3 Standard. One solution is to replace the shocke with something better (expensive) the other is to fit some after market springs to the shocks. My contact is able to provide and fit suitable springs...
  9. Rear shocks

MY wife and I find our Rocket Touring bike a bit hard on the bumps and would like a smoother softer ride so I going to go with some Progressive 412 shocks. Should I stay with the stock length or will a longer shock give me more travel?

    Shocks

Can anyone tell me what the stock length of the R3 shocks is??
  13. Troubleshooting Shocks

I know this is a novice question, which is appropriate since I consider myself a novice. How can one tell when it's time to replace the shocks? On a car, bouncing on the bumper and watching the rebound is an indicator but I don't know about bikes. Thanks in advance

    Blown Progressive shocks?

I think I have a failed (right hand) Progressive 440 shock. I noticed some old slime on the right side of the swing arm while doing some cleaning. Looks like it had been there a while. Anyway, are the Progressive 440 shocks rebuildable? If so, do yo uknow if they must go back to Progressive...

    VTX Shocks?

Do any of you VTX owners or previous owners know if Honda VTX stock shocks are softer sprung than our shocks? I'm pretty sure they are a direct swap. At some point this year, hopefully before the discs in my spine are too compressed, I will be replacing my stock shocks. After 30,000 miles...

Ohlins Piggyback Shocks Fiited to R3 Just fitted my new shocks this afternoon and haven't taken it for a proper run yet but a quick spin around the block indicates that the imprvment is immense. (Rather unsurprisingly!) All told it was a pretty easy mod to make just had to take a leap into...

Stock shocks vs. Progressive 440 HD

Ok, I know everybody loves the 440s. I am a big fat bastard, 6'3" and 350lbs. There is no way I'd be doing myself a favor on the standard 440s. I've seen a couple of comments on how the 440 HD felt no different than stock. Is that the general concensus? I'm ready to order some but dont want to...

    440 progressive shocks

What is the correct way to install these shocks? PS instructions weren't very clear concerning the clearance of .020. All of the hardware they sent with the shocks wasn't needed? I wasn't able to get a real torque setting when tightening the bolts. Hope someone can help. thanks MarkC
