Why compare Apples (Rockets) to Oranges (Diavels)

This is my Son and his SE V-Rod.....Don't let that skinny little bike fool ya.....LOL

That's a shhhhweeeeet V-Rod. A few years ago I rented a V-Rod while I was in California for my buds wedding. Really liked it (at that time I was riding a 69' Electra Glide). Then I became a Rocket man. Fast forward a couple years, the wife takes a riders course and wants a bike. I bought a low mileage 2004 V-Rod thinking it would make a good bike for her. She didn't like it mainly due to the slow ass steering from the raked out front end. Anyway after riding the R3 the V-Rod didn't really have any appeal for me. Felt really gutless on the bottom. It was fast but not very quick. You really had to have the engine spinning before it made any power. I still like them and hope HD continues to make them, I just don't need to own one.

The President of the Hells Angels here in Queensland rides a Diavel , he just loves the thing .. he's a rider, clocks up big miles. He reckons that bike has reignited his passion for riding .. (he hates Rockets ) even though one of the other 81 members rides one.

Diavel vs Rocket

A bit like Ferrari vs Holden.

Ducati's are gorgeous to ride - less gorgeous to own and maintain ime. I've had a couple.

Shame Laverda stopped. If they'd made a road version of the V6 - I know what I'd be dreaming over. It was hardly ever seen as it kept shearing drive shafts.

In 1981 that very gentleman showed me round that beast on a factory tour.

Yes I do like Italian bikes. I'd rather have a sorted old LeMans than a Griso though.

Shot the breeze with a kid on a VTX 1800 on the ride home from MV. He loved the Rocket and had me fire it up for him. He had looked at a few bikes, including a Rocket, but had a limited budget and figured the VTX gave him the most bang for his buck. Paul and I let him see the Rockets acceleration when we left the bar where we ate dinner. ;)

VTX is a great cruiser, not a wannabe at all. Handled better than most and plenty of go once you let them breath. Honda was mad to discontinue them IMO.

Honda seems to have their head up their arse a lot lately. They quit making the Valkyrie, the Rune (which I would love to have). The VTX. But they did give us the new "Honda Electraglide" with none of the cool options.

I noticed no-one mentioned the G#*d W##g!!!!!
Well I suppose you can't call it anything like a Rocket....... But an armchair ... Maybe!

Wings don't compare to Rockets in my opinion, but I watched a big ol boy (Oscar) ride the $hit out of a wing at MV. He had absolutely no problem keeping up through the twistys or anywhere else for that matter
