Part of the retirement dream is to get a 5th wheel with a garage then tour the country wal mart to wal mart taking the bikes out to enjoy the sites along the way.
Funny that I can say this but "Been There Done That" big thanks to @R3Tex Morris and his lovely bride Cindy they took me over to the Three Sissters before we went to RAAX and then they and @rainman Jay and @sweettennbabe Wendy plus @mully95 Marland took me over to Maggie Valley where we hooked up with @JoseyR3Wales and spent a full and I mean FULL day ridding some of the best roads I have ever ridden in my life including of course the Dragon
Oh yeah how could not mention "Bourbon Street" New Orleans or that soft shell popo (did I get that right) at the takeaway on the way out around the Lake the next day
You should take the extra 3 h 41 min (279.1 km) via Mulligan Hwy to Cooktown, I rode my Yamaha FJ100 up there in 1986 and I am sure the roads are better now 30 years on. I came back via the dirt Bloomfield track past the Lion’s Den pub Cape tribulation and the Daintree River ferry.
I hated Port Douglas even then, rode in and straight out again, the tourist signs and advertising got to me.
