whats wrong

hi guys
its 5:25 and my shop doors are closed. i found this thread interesting and might have gained some useful info. the guy asked us for help. sure he is rough around the edges and little short on temper. but if i meet a rocket owner and tell him about this site should i tell him to choose his words very careful, be very humble and beg for information? my self included i don't know any motorcycle guys like that.
i know when i give my opinion it also reflects on the whole site so i hope this goes over well. if not i have my big boy pants on.

well hopefully he will do the easy checks that have been posted make sure it has the right plugs. the idea of the plug being dropped prior to install is a valid one Hell it could have been bent shut out of th ebox and not noticed prior to install. Those are the first tings I would check and also check the low tension leads to the coils as they do corrode and get loose a little grimping with needle nose plier works wonders. He should also give us a idea of any mods that might have been done to the bike and if he has any tuning soft ware so he can use the diagnostics. I am sure we can help if he comes back and post hopefully he did nottake things personal because this place and the .com site has the same hooligans on it. Along with a large vass quantity of knowledge which is cheaper then paying a dealer.

I do hope that MB460 will return and get the help he needs. I'm sure that there are answers here and people willing to give them.

If he was not so hot headed his bike may well be fixed by now.

Back

I hope he doesn't come back.
We do not need *******s like him.
I am usually a nice forgiving guy and can tolerate a lot, but I do not like to be told to $#&* off.
The only person thats allowed to say that is my wife.
He told us all to *^&$ off and called us all pieces of #*+@.

Heres his quote.
**** all of you except the one guy who actually attempted to help. i'm done... you guys are pieces of **** looking to get a ******* reaction out of me, well you got it... **** YOU.

I took it as a compliment:D
he now holds the record for least number of replys to a post before you blow a fuse

My opinion which you can count it as you see it is the poor frustrated guy got a Rocket and has problems. he was pointed to this site by someone who thinks its one of the better sites.. he made a error in his wording about the plug as its electrode was bent not the cylinder. Easy mistake when your frustrated espesially if you dropped a bunch of cash on a bike and imediatley has problems. then not knowing some of use are hooligans and make sarcastic remarks to be funny and are not relly serious he got even more upset. and responded in kind. now we can all keep sticking our fingers in eachother eys and eventually walk around blind or we can pull together and show him how good this site is. I for one will help as much as I can. there has been a couple good ideas but throughthe fog of frustration might not have soaked in enough for him to look at it. we all know there are guys hers that admit they are not a man that canturna wrench or at least do not trust them selves to when they probably can. I can see someone putting plugs in and lot even looking to see if the gap is right as they are supposed to come pre gapped. I can also see a plug being droped and the gape close I do not think it would close all the way so I would lean towards it not being right out of the box. as for a secondary screw falling into the cylinder and hitting the plug and totally closing the gap I doubt it because of the dish in the piston verses the small size of the screw. only the center of the piston has a rise in it which is notnear the plugs. if the outer edge of the piston broke off it sould stand up and with bad luck hit the plug but I would bet it would hit the valces first bending them and the valve not closing. if it was a intake valve then with one good plug in tact when it fired it would fire out the throttle body because the vavle would be stuck open. the only other way would be for the valve timing to be way off but you would hear the piston beating all the valves. First to find out more about the bike you could look at the front left frame tube and read the manufatures date plus take a pictcutre of it little thing like if its two toned paint it would either be a classic or a touring again the year made would clarify that. if it has forward pegs and colored paint one color it would be a standard rocket. Does it have three pipes or two big water heaters on it with rear pegs like a roadster. A picture would help tremendously. I for one say we should forget the previous post and start over or I recommend you get registered on the .com site and that site will try to help. most of us are members of both. The thing is are we going to step up and help a fellow captain or not. I say we do!!!!

I'm am enthused again !

That's good Fred. To be honest, I thought the first few responses to the question were pretty silly. I mean, did it really matter whether the noise was from a Standard, Classic, Touring or Roadster engine? Especially as he was pretty much also told an engine's an engine? And who would seriously believe a cylinder would be bent? I knew what he was talking about.

Now that doesn't justify his over reaction but I can't blame him for getting frustrated. I do like Dave's observation though that he sets the record for least number of replies before blowing a fuse. Oh, and the one about meeting you guys in person.......;):p

I hope he comes back because unlike Macrider, I'd like to think that this community could help him. I didn't think he was being such an arsehole - not if you look at how he was treated initially. There's a long time member on here who called us all pond scum and whenever he pops back he's given a fair go. Any member wanting to dictate who is and who is not welcome perhaps is on the wrong site. Most of us like the variety and enjoy a bit controversy. And why pass up the opportunity for more of Dave's pearls of wisdom?

Just my 2.03 cents worth.
