What the crap?! Ramair filter

This post confuses my wee brain.
There are three clamps around the throttle bodies on mine.
What are these other clamps?

The little one that goes on the back of the engine Bull. Where the vent hose to the air filter box went. Might be a touring model thing though.

The oxygen sensor.

Like I said, this might be only on the T model. The air box and filter are under the seat. There is a hose from the box that goes to the crankcase ventilation port on the back of the engine to supply filtered air to it. The little filter replaces that.

Here is a picture. The filter has a white cable tie at the bottom

OK - think I finally understand.
My R3R has a tube from the bottom of the former air box into the case.
I plugged this with foam rubber that I clean with the Ram Air.
Works great and NO mess inside where I nor carry tool.

yes, mine has been perfect too but I am thinking about removing the clamps since I do have the bear claw. it's tight enough without the clamps

Yup. Two sets in a row with the new ones too. Bad Rubber. Good design but needs better rubber. Had to buy K&N. Hoping they upgrade their rubber compound.

I think there used to be an issue with cracking some time ago but they supposedly fixed it. Got mine new in March and have had it off and on a few times and it seems perfectly pliable so far. The clamps they provide are way overkill and it wouldn't be hard to over press the rubber boots. I'm not really sure they're even necessary at all. Just the slightest pressure from a tie-wrap would be plenty especially if you keep the bear claw cover.

Sorry for your problem but i'm certain they will take care of it. I talked to them about why they aren't selling or advertising the recharge oil and they were very responsive. Of course they haven't changed their marketing a bit? I think it would be to their advantage, but maybe they don't want to bring up any maintenance issues or the fact that it does have to be cleaned occasionally?

Mine were fitted before I bought the bike but they were removed and refitted in the near dark when a pair of guardian angel stopped to help me fit a spare throttle cable after one broke. I removed it later after some stalling and irregular running on very low throttle and noticed the middle one had a small 5mm split at the mounting edge. I then put some tape around the rubber fitting and re-fitted, but it did not seat or seal so I re-did it with minimal clamp tightening and all was good.

Like others I have bought the cleaning and re-oiling kit on eBay from seller: ramair-filters

This is btw the TRICK.

As many know Colin (with a tiny amount of input from me) designed the Ramair - RamAir asked if they could market it. I had the prototype on for ages -and reluctantly parted with it as RamAir wanted me to have a production one. Never had any issues. ime K&N rubber goes hard over time if exposed to fuel vapours too.

I had planned to visit them in May as they are close to where my Mum lives - but could not. IF - and I reiterate IF I make it to the UK in Sept. I will pop to see them. They were looking at a STAGE 2 filter - but they've been very quiet. I know they keep getting really weird requests from the Military (they're around Salisbury Plain).

ime - a modified Triumph OEM outer plenum will pretty much suit most legal-ish road riders. If you go for an "OPEN" filter option - I STRONGLY recommend the OZ-Claw. Some form of heatshield twixt filter and under the tank and a deflector to keep radiator/oil-tank heat from rising up. These latter 2 together dropped AIT by 10ºC

There are some photos in here RAMAIR-FILTER-INSTALL

Thanks for all the leg work and planning. I still have one of the first Preorder ones and think it is great. Would always be interested on improved airflow and cooler supply so will be interested in the next one if it ever gets made.
