triumph rocket touring pannier rails - For Sale

Not amazing at all, since Triumph borrowed so much of the Harley look for the Touring.

It's ironic that you used the word "borrowed". I rode a HD Roadking before my R3T. Most of my fellow riders ride Harley Touring bikes. Putting a Rocket Touring next to a Road King shows the obvious. A little bigger, much improved windshield, more contoured bags with a monster engine. Add a larger everything. I'm very surprised HD didn't start court proceedings.
My Rocket looks like a Ultra Classic. The fairing and trunk are purchased as non Harley parts....

While I suspect most of it is marketing trying to syphon off Harley riders, there is also the aspect of reducing the cost of outsourcing the pieces -- those pannier rails for example, the jigs to measure, bend, and cut, then to send out for chrome; all that much less expensive to say, "Please take that one, and make it a little longer, use the same clamps and bolts; add this tab for our exhaust" than to design all new, pay setup, pre-production, and so on.

For the desperate Pannier rail seekers I have found the Original factory parts (every factory nut bolt washer and grommet etc.) required from different suppliers throughout the world for four sets (yep x4). Would cost me about $450 (Oops edit with a missed freight $520+) a set to put together and not sure I want to commit at that cost price.

I sold 7 or 8 sets previously for that price or less and there is quite a bit of work getting it all together, sold and packed etc.

Some smart folk following may read the whole thread and figure if they get some US$55 Harley rails from a wrecker, do VERY simple extension as posted, and MATCH with the crucial US$100 set of eBay USA clamps to attach to the bike and you have a set of rails for under US$160. That is a winner!
