When you have it running and IN gear with clutch OUT, can you feel or hear anything from the diff or shaft?

have not heard myself but he says no that's what I kinda felt final drive /major clutch slip (but all at once?)some thing must still be <attached> like I say pushing it popping clutch feels like theres something still there?
