Cruising today finally on my 2011 R3T I just bought with 21k on the clock was even better than expected. Love this cruiser. Although I only rode about 150 miles i was still able to get a good feel for the bike because it was split evenly between the Highway, Twisties and stop and go on Pacific Coast Hwy. My thoughts coming from today's ride are: Power was exceptional for passing on the hwy. 5th gear not needed until 65mph and even then plenty of roll on power. The bike handled very well in the twisties for a beast, in fact incredibly well compared to my last cruiser (Nomad). Brakes are fine but not excellent, I may just have to get used to them. The clutch is very smooth and the torque is crazy fun. I think I took off in 3rd and didn't stall this thing. It has good manners and is relatively quiet with the D&D pipes so I snuck up on other cruiser riders in traffic and most looked at me and their eyes said "What is that?" Not a a lot of R3's here in Southern Ca. The only negative I have to say is the heat on the right side. I might bring a sandwich next time and heat it up on my running board. Anyway, I'm super happy with my new ride and can't wait to take if for a longer ride up the coast later this month.
"It has good manners and is relatively quiet with the D&D pipes" mine's a ***** at the trough it barges in ..pushes the other's away, gets a big gut full, Growls then leaves a big black line as it leaves.........

seriously they are a gem to ride whether you are hard over in the twisty stuff or just cruising along a nice scenic route I cant think of another bike I have had or ridden that makes me feel as good as my Rocket.
Enjoy Her!!!
Nice write up! I love reading stories like this! I've got about about 2500km on my roadster and loving it more and more as I ride it. It's true that it definitely does get hot on the right side but I find if you just spread your legs out a little and shove your button do the farthest back in the seat you can not get so roasted lol! We have the worst traffic here so ive had to deal with idling. I tell you though it makes for an excellent bike to ride in the winter because it's always warming you up! Hah

If you add a Dobeck Performance AFR Plus you can gain some untapped torque and power, increase economy and get ride of the right leg heat. It is not expensive and is worth every penny.
