To Blip or Not To Blip??

Blip ! Cant imagine down shifting without it. All my bikes, the Porsche, heck even the wife's Honda Civic ... and try downshifting an 18 wheeler without it. Not going to happen.

I think that's called accelerating?
Oh and here I thought no matter which direction your going if you pull the clutch in amd blip the throttle your just changing the rpm of the outer clutch basket not the inner hub and steels. Unless your sliding the clutch it will not change the rpm of the input shaft. But hey its just me, I would then guess I do mot really know how the ROCKET clutch works.

i guess it would depend on how fast u were going. for example if u were running about 3 grand and wanted to down shift u would need to blip, however if u were to come to a stop light and u wait till u r about 10 mph (coasting with clutch disengaged) u can down shift three gears w/o blip. i guess it would also depend on what kind of bike u were riding i know i would not let him ride my rocket.:eek:
whatever it takes to pass the test then practice to pick up ur own style. listen to others but do whats best for u. i think that the worst mistake new drivers do is they hit corners to fast and then they r afraid to lean the bike over far enough to make the corner. if u watch videos u notice drivers doing this an they just run off the road while their buddies make the curve.
good luck:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

You said BEFORE you pull the clutch in :D

Why is it that the bike turns better with the motor @ 3 to 4000 rpm low gear rather than 2 to 3000 high gear / about the same speed, same curve. It's like the gyroscopic effect of the engine mass turning is doing something.

As far as blipping... I throttle the bike to downshift and then throttle off or up. Just want to help the transmission a little.

A lot of Harley Riders are blipophiles ,ever noticed how the louder the exhaust the more blips they do, I don't blip just throttle up slightly as I release the clutch on downshifts, the slipper clutch on the GTR makes downshifts smooth anyway,

OOps right so you pull the clutch blip the motor and it does not change the input shaft speed just outer free spinning clutch basket ,water pump and oil pumps which are driven by the chain off the back basket increase in speed. Not the input shaft or any gears until you release the clutch. except like I said if you spinning or dragging the clutch.
