Tekardi, I recommend the exedra max and if you can get it I recommend trying it before you try the Dark Side. It might be the tire for you. As for more traction off the start I would dissagree I can burn any tire I want off from the start no matter whether its a car tire or a motorcycle tire. I have enough horse power to eat either up if I choose. I still say the exedra is the best tire out there for a rocket that supports a 240 width tire. So far I have found it to be better then any of the 18 inch tires I have tried also. Ihave no traction issue taking off withthe motorcycle tire either especially at the race track where there is more rubber on the ground. Give it a chance and then try the darky if you want I am sure you will switch back if you decide to go. As for stopping I have no problems in fact I find if your rear tire is locking up it is the operators problem not the brakes, no matter what tire you ride.
 

We had our first RDU (Rockets Down Under) last September at Hervey Bay in Qld. It was the first time many of us on here had met each other and was huge fun. Some of us traveled 1600-2000km to get there. We have another meet organised for Easter and starting to talk about the 2nd RDU on the NSW South Coast in Sept this year.

You should do it even if you only have a few of you. Maybe, if there's so few of you, team up with T'bids and America/Speedmaster owners too. Once you get one going the interest will grow in the future.

We've had real hot weather here - had a national average of 43c the other day with some places topping 45,and everywhere across the whole country at least 37. Seeing 50-55 in South Australia. Bit cooler here today but yes, not ideal for riding Rockets. Didn't stop me though.

Hi, nice & serious reply.. I would agree the same ideas for my Kawasaki Ninja. All power and hole-shots are no problem and the same for braking hard. More on the front / less on the back, no sliding. But i still say that because the R3T has a narrow rear tire unlike the R-Standard; my comments above are real issues for me and i certainly know how to ride. If I could get a wider MT on the R3T, then I would do it.
 
the touring takes a 180 if I remember why not try a 190 or 200 tire on it The swing frame is wide enough. Just barley for the 200 but it will go on. Another thing is maybe you need a different 180 maybe with a different compound that grips better. Even the Bridgestone which had soem problems on the early touring bike has a exedra max that will fit now. Oh and in no way was I implying you do not know how to ride.

Do for any ya'll know what's the biggest and softest MT tire I can stuff under an R3T without making it handle worse than the truck tire I already stuffed under it?...

That was done with a stock suspension and the OEM Metzeler.

The CT robs the R3 of both hp and torque and there is no need for additional traction as you can see from the video above. The only significant advantage of the CT is that it's cheaper (though not by much vs the B'stone Exedra)and it lasts longer than MTs. I've done a good amount of miles with both types of tires and would never revert to what I consider to be an inferior tire both performance-wise and safety-wise.

Conclusion: If you want to think you are or actually do save some money, then the CT is for you. If you desire all-around superior performance, stick with a motorcycle tire!
