Throttle tension adjustment?

The crampbuster looks pretty good. I mentioned elsewhere that I have Kuryakyn Iso grips on mine. Also have a throttle boss - it's quite small but enables you to relax your grip and wiggle your fingers at least without loosing speed. The thing about the Iso grips is that they are thicker than standard grips, which gives you a gearing advantage when twisting the throttle. I found that they made it smoother on roundabouts etc and they're a softer feel than the standard grips as well. Also better ventilation in hot weather. If you're not comfortable with the stiffness I reckon Iso grips and a crampbuster (if it will fit) would be a good option - assuming of course there's nothing actually wrong with your throttle.

Steele,
I feel your pain. Recently returned from a 3800 miler to Sturgis. I'm left handed and I now look like a right handed tennis pro with a right forearm the size of my thigh from the two weeks of continuous isometric squeeze exercise of my throttle hand.

I just got this and it works great. It is the cheapest cruise control I've ever seen and it is the simplest and best design idea around.

I went and looked at my throttle rocker. It is made by crampbuster. It just snaps on to the grip. It seems to be made of spring steel and covered by plastic. I think I paid about $10 dollars but don't remember where I bought it. I like it because it can be removed in a second when not needed. It can be moved for comfort while riding to fit your needs.

I'm an old guy who's owned at least 20 bikes over the years. The throttle on my 07 Classic is certainly no stiffer than any of the others I've owned. I would bet that something is amiss. I have the Iso Grips for Kuryakyn Grips with the throttle boss which are excellent but shouldn't be necessary. Just returned from two cross country trips and had no problem keeping that throttle open at all for extended periods of time nor did my buddy riding his R3 with stock grips.
Have you tried lubing the cables? First thing to do!...and NO...the springs will not "relax"
When you go to your dealer, turn the throttle on a new Tourer to see whether there is a difference.

Lube the cables, are the new type of cables not nylon if so I would not recommend lubeing them a wee squirt of wd40 maybe but not much more, but as said if your throttle is that hard(have you checked your hands for arthritis?) something else is wrong.

Not the cheapest our man Flip had a 10c version, Flip where are you jump in anytime :D

We go tomorrow to the dealer for them to look at it.
I will see if this is a type of cable where lubrication is allowed.
One of the first things I am going to do is try the throttle on another tour (I know they have one) and a roadster.
This dealer has been around for a while and so I trust them.
My hands are getting older but not arthritic of what I am aware.
My hands are fine on our 1992 Honda Shadow 1100 and they were fine on the 2008 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe we traded in.
My wife said she trusts when I say something is not right due to 35 years of riding.
So we find out tomorrow.
While there I will see if they offer any of the throttle assists.
I know some just snap on and I do like that idea.

Thanks!

God bless!!

Michael
