The odyssey begins !

Me n my mate just pulled the final drive an shaft out his 04 . The bike has 80000 mls on it and was makin all sorts o noise on the over run with the throttle closed . This is the second drive shaft an final drive he's been through. The crazy thing is the cost is £1300 (approx $2000) over here from stealer and bike bandit is selling both parts for $900 WTF is goin on ?
 
I'm not an engineer but it seems like that could have been a square peg in a square hole. I had / seen a lot of motorcycle with stripped kicker and shifter shafts that used splines. This was Harleys answer. NEVER seen one of these strip.

I think I would order from Bike bandit
Also let him know he should lubricate it with a moly lube at least everytime does a tire change or better yet when he does a oil change for safety!!!!

I'LL BET THAT'S IT ! I wonder if I could sue someone ? Do you need a valid reason to sue ?

How many miles do you have on yours now ? My output shaft bearings went at 53,000.
 
Dropped the mains ladder and windage tray today. Pretty clean. Just a tiny bit of glitter. Doesn't even show up in the pic.

Next cleaned the pan and pick up screens



Screens were pretty bad



Got the rest of damper housing cleaned out. Once I get the new bearings it's ready to go back together.
 
Fred, if this makes you feel better, looks like the Spyder will be covered by the insurance but sadly the mechanic say they may total it since that engine is just shy of $10,000
 
Why would that make me feel better you $#%@headed, &*#$hole !

All kidding aside, the engine is completely farked ? Did the broken motor mount crack up into the cases or something ?
