smooth lower end torque

Wow, this is a nice thread. I have some specific needs for the low end low velocity portion of the throttle twist.
A TPS vs RPM analysis is easy to do. Even in your head. If you want graphs then get a cheap ELM27 type plug for the OBD connector and log the data to a cellphone. Logging AFR requires more specific equipment.

If I'm in top at under 2000rpm then I don't expect instant response. And would probably drop to 4th unless the transition upwards again was likely to be gradual. Like Fred - I try not to lug the engine.

1st for me is a crawler gear - I live on a rural estate with really ****ty roads - speed bumps etc. 5th is tuned as a distance and economy (ish) gear.

For interest and delectation - here is a graph of a recent run. A mix of rural roads. About 45minutes worth. The log file ran out as I hit motorway.
If I remember to hit the button today I will have a "mostly motorway" run I can share.
